Rated 5 out of 5 by Knuckles Best TV I Have Owned
I have owned a new TV every year for the past 4 years. Sadly they were all Samsung TV's. Every TV before that was a sony. I switched over to samsung because everything you read says Samsung is one of the best or is the best. Well, I have 4 years of experence that says otherwise. 2 of the TV's in that four year went bad within the first year. That being said, I have had the 55W950B for a week now and have been playing with setting every day. This is by far the best TV I have ever owned. Great black levels. Beautiful colors. The Playstation 4 looks sick on this TV as well as blu-ray movies. The TV sound is also great on its own . I purchased the CT770 sound bar with it and makes this a complete package. I am so happy I purchased this TV and will never try another brand. If your looking for the best 2K TV of 2014 Please try this TV. You will not regret it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LouieNYC Awesome Non-4k TV
Awesome TV, picture is extremely vivid, the blacks are rich for a non 4k TV... the sound is the super feature on this TV... rich bass and really loud! have to mention that this TV is not super slim at all, it seems the engineers designed this TV for a stand... it is somewhat heavy,.. and yes even though it's wedged it can be hanged on the wall... it comes with 4 different size spacers... the interface is much better than older models... still not user friendly...this is still Sony achilles heel but its getting better.. I personally don't like the touch pad remote... it was not responding well.. and was all over the place... the other remote was great.. one feature that blew me away was the camera on top... great for Skype...movies are insanely good and sport look fantastic.. Gotta hand it to Sony... when it comes to picture... no one comes close...

Rated 4 out of 5 by ffrog Great picture and colors.
Picture and colors are great.
Sound is OK for such small speakers. I use surround sound for DVDs but for news etc. I just use TV speakers.
Wedge design is not noticeable as some have complained about. Overall the TV is a good looking device.
Support legs are chrome and reflect the TVs picture. They should have used non-reflective legs. This can be solved by covering legs with tape.
With this model after turning off a connected device such as a DVD player you have to physically select the input mode to go back to the TV. With my other Sony (40”) you only have to push one button (channel up or down) to go back to the previous channel. Not a real big deal but consistency would be nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mike344 Best Non-4K TV for 2014
Excellent color and clarity. Very deep black levels. Excellent integration with DirecTV. Stunning picture quality. Sound quality is very good considering there isn't much room for massive speakers but adding a wireless sub will significantly improve overall sound.
I was initially in the market for a 4K TV but the current price point and lack of content made me upgrade to the best non-4K TV for a very reasonable price. Will likely purchase a 4K set in 2-3 years but for now this is hands down the best TV for the price.
FYI: the panel is IPS - Better viewing angle and deeper black levels than traditional panels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Belman Best TV
I love this tv, after having Sony products for years I switched to Samsung about 8 years ago. When I started having problems with the Samsung that was only a couple of years old and getting no help from them I went looking for a new tv and found this W950B. It is a much better picture than the Samsung and sofar has the easiest, greatest features of any tv I've ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SonyFanSTL Best 1080P TV Around
After nearly 9 years, my old Sony KDF-E50A10 rear-projection television came to an untimely end. Time to make a decision between a 1080P set or a new 4K model. Since my old TV was 720P at the best, I felt that a 1080P set would be a nice enough upgrade and so far, I'm glad I made that decision. I read tons of reviews and then went shopping at a couple of the Best Buy stores in the area. Even though I'm a Sony fan, I thought I really liked the looks of the Samsung 7150 series 55" model. That is, until I saw the 7150 model close to the Sony KDL-55W950B set that I eventually purchased. The Sony, with it's Triluminous display, had what I thought was the best picture and it definitely shows more shades of color than the Samsung. Best Buy was feeding the same signal to several TV's and for the most part they were fairly similar until an ocean scene came on and that's where the Sony really stood out. It displayed several more shades of blues and greens in the water than any other set on display. OK, mind made up. Sony wins and by waiting a few days to see what the new sales ads show, I saved another $200.
Family is very happy with the TV so far. The 3D function works fine. Only had 1 3D movie to watch and my son and I thought it was really neat. The sound on this set is so much better than our old rear-projection set. The new wedge shape allows for larger speakers to be used and if you go through the audio settings menu, you can adjust the sound to fit almost any taste. I ended up turning my receiver off and just using the TV's sound.
Sure, you can probably find a decent set from some other brand at a lower price but, if you want what I feel is the best 55" 1080p set around, then spring for the 55" Sony W950B set. You won't be disappointed. I just hope it lasts as long as our previous set.
