I bought my Tv in late 06 at sony kingsway mall in Edmonton.Upon purchasing I was concerned about how dark the tv in the store was but I wanted a huge tv.The sales guy assured me that the bulb in the tv I would get would be much brighter. I asked how much the bulbs were to replace and he said at that time around $500, for a bulb!? I was on the fence until he offered to throw in a spare replacement bulb... So I bought it. After I also bought an entertainment system as well and my total was somewhere around 10G's in 06.When my tv showed up it was just as bright as the model in the store.About 2 years later I decided to dig out my replacement in my storage closet and switch them. To my horror the "new bulb" was darker than the one I just took out.In 09 I couldn't see hardly anything anymore with the tv settings as bright as it could go so I've been watching everything on my desktop comp ever since.Never complaining until now because I know what the salesman did that day... Nothing... But gave me a used bulb instead of a "new bulb" like he said he would do. Now being tired of having a 60" TV taking space in my living room with no function I decided to shop around for a XL 5300 bulb.Thinking that's it's been 7yrs that a new bulb would be much cheaper but I was stunned to see they're still selling at $344.99.I can imagine how happy the sales guy was when I came into the store a few weeks before Christmas in my wheelchair wanting to purchase more than $10,000 in sony products... I bet I made his Christmas :(. I will never again purchase from sony or reccommend to my friends either! I was very upset to figure it out some many yrs later that I had been dooped and that the same salesman no longer worked in the store!

I've had my KDS-R60XBR2 for almost 7 years and I still love it, do not waste your time with non OEM lamps and housings, you won't be happy.
Hopefully this one will hold out long enough for 60 inch 4K prices to drop a little more into the reality zone over the next 2 years.
