We got this Blu ray player during the Black Friday sales from Best Buy at half price. It has a great picture and works well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that once my wife could not get the disc to start playing. We ended up ejecting the disc and putting it back in to get it to start. Not sure if we just missed the setting but we looked for a while before resorting to this method. It has a nice small form factor, about half the size of our previous Sony player. The WiFi streaming is easy to set up and works well. There is a Netflix button right on the remote so you can start the service easily, which my wife loves! It has easy setup and works well in conjunction with a Sony smart tv. We just bought a Playstation Now capable WiFi steaming
40 inch Sony television also. When the Blu Ray player is turned on the TV input automatically changes and it changes back when the player is trend off. NICE FEATURE! I would recommend this player and would definitely purchase again.

Player has performed up to expectations although dust easily affects playback, and there doesn't appear to be any way to clean the laser.
No panel lights to tell if the device is dead or alive. Chassis is so light that you virtually cannot close the DVD drawer by hand without the device sliding across the table. Eject and Power functions are on the same (un-lit) button. Can't tell which button you're touching, but it's ALWAYS the wrong button...nice touch Sony.
Didn't notice anywhere on the product packaging where this player uses "CINAVIA" technology...this is NOT a plus. Guess Sony didn't think you'd mind.
The remote control packaged with this player is a cheap throw-away, (will not control the TV or any other device),,, suggest you keep the remote from the player you're replacing. Chances are it's WAY better than the remote control Sony provided.
All in all, it's a cheap player that looks & operates that way.

Navigation is easy and picture quality great. But the thing keeps breaking, and Sony is very unresponsive on tech support. Fortunately I got SquareTrade coverage through Amazon, and they have offered me a refund. Sony just gave me the runaround.
First one dead on arrival; second one started flashing 2 seconds of display, 2 seconds of black; Third one started flickering then wend dead completely. The third one was smaller and had no display, and no numbers on the remote for setting codes up.
Tech support obsessed about whether the cable was high enough quality, but it works fine on my PC. If their product is more picky than a standard video card, they should include a cable with the product. Brand new cable didn't help.
I don't know what "offered for presale" means. I've owned this product nearly a year but am not selling it.
I never tried the 3D capability and was unable to set up wifi

I bought this unit to replace a Panasonic unit that died after just 8 months of use. It had never worked correctly anyway, as it never did connect to the internet via WiFi to do software updates (which I didn't confirm until after I saw how well this Sony unit worked).
This Sony unit connected immediately (with positive feedback, so I knew I was connected) and worked great, right out of the gate. I now have at least 5 dozen sites available, and many are free.
The Blu-ray functionality has been flawless. Even playing some scratchy old DVD's without issue.
The unit has a small footprint. The remote is also smaller than most, which was a plus for me. My only negative comment would be that the pause button should be the same size as the play button and placed directly under the play. But that is very minor unless you have big paws. Overall, I give this unit a big thumbs up. Nice design, great functionality, WiFi compatible and easy to navigate.

I installed it downstairs and I was surprised how nice it worked! The Wi-Fi connection is from a 3 year old router and it worked better than I thought it would. We watched a DVD movie and the controls from the unit did great compared to the junky Samsung I destroyed with my foot after it would not even put up the menu so I could play the disk. I took the top off of it and cleaned the laser and it still did not work. It was an older one that was not used much at all. The Sony was small but had a lot of features. I was able to watch videos from the Internet with no stutter. The only thing I did not like about it was the shape of the top. I had to use rubber grommets to put our X1 Comcast box on top so it would stay. The Comcast box is smaller so it had to go on top. It was like $ 80.00 and was worth the price.

I have been using this Blu-Ray player for a few months without any trouble or regret. This machine offers much more than a 3D Blu-ray player, I have mine connected to my home network and I can play movies from my computer through this Blu-ray player. I like the music player option that allows me to play the music from my PC also. This Blu-ray player can play every type of video file including MKV which many older machines including the X-Box 360 cannot. This machine adds the perfect touch to my home theater system by integrating network and internet connectivity with dozens of options and possibilities. Of course the audio and video quality are incredible too.

I purchased the Sony Blue Ray Disc player (BDP S5200) in order to view internet content on my television. Entering information to access internet content is cumbersome and time consuming with the remote control. There is a screen mirroring feature that would make eliminate this problem, IF I could access it. The Wi Fi connection process to access screen mirroring asks for a password. I searched and entered any and every number on the box and instructions with no results. I contacted customer service, asking where I might find the password, or if they could provide one. Customer service told me the player was not compatible with any of my devices ( Apple ipad, iPhone, droid phone, and PC) I am disappointed to say the least.
