Pros:
Educate yourself on how to setup equipment
Cons:
Great value. $38 on amazon, free shipping..
People that are complaining about hissing and cracking need to learn how to setup stereo equipment before running to their computer and writing negative reviews. Turn up your source audio close to max and then gradually turn up your headset volume.. Easy as that. Plus the freaking headphones are 40 bucks, stop complaining. If you spent 150+ then yeah they better have zero distortion. Just had to backup Sony. Thanks for reading

Pros:
very good sound once set up properly, comfortable
Cons:
Foam ear covers come off easily, can't walk away and still get reception
These do exactly what I wanted., a way to watch TV late at night when I get home from work without disturbing the household. I had hissing until I figured out how to set them up. Plug them into the earphone jack. This turns off the TV speakers and just leaves the headphones on. Turn the headset volume down and turn the tv volume up loud to 65 or so. Remember the TV speakers are off now. Then adjust the headphone volume to your comfort level. No hissing.
If you leave the tv at normal volume setting and try to turn up the headphone volume you will get hissing.

Pros:
Comfortable, Solid Sound, Rechargeable Battery
Cons:
IR doesn't allow walking around, ear cushions fall off easily
I second jhjr4 in that the other reviewers don't understand audio equipment. Turn up your source volume to max (or near it) and then slowly turn up your headset. Be careful not to unplug the headphone jack otherwise you'll wake up the neighborhood with your speakers. They give great sound when setup properly. IR needs line of sight so make sure you can setup them so, otherwise, you'll have poor quality. The headset is comfortable. It doesn't squeeze your head and they are very light. If you move your head rapidly they could fall off. One note, the ear cushions fall off constantly. Once they came off the 1st time I couldn't get them to stay on. Probably could use some glue to tape but still, it's a pain. I actually lost one of the cushions so I am hoping that I can order replacement cushions. Without the cushions, the set is almost un-wearable. All in all for the price, sound, and comfort...a great value.

Top Adjustment
I am very happy with my recent purchase. It was easy to hook-up to my sony tv. The battery life is great, the battery charging docking system is easy to use. I've had 3 other head phones in the past. This is the best. For the price hands down go and buy these ones

Pros:
Light, sturdy ear sponge, good built-in rechargable battery life
Cons:
Recharge cradle connection does not always activate
I used to have a lot of IR phones, but this one has all the features I was always looking for. We use it to listen to the TV after the kids are gone to sleep. We have two headphones using only one of the IR transmitters ( the not-connected one is covered with a tape ). While it is pricier than the others, it is one of the most comfortable ones with excellent built-in rechargable battery life. Worthy to note that after almost 2 years I still have the original ear sponges. The only not-so-positive thing I can think of is that when putting it back on the recharge cradle, sometimes I miss the recharging-connector, but even that one is fine as there is a red LED showing if it's charging or not... It's a great IR headset.

Pros:

Cons:
Everything else
These headphones are horrible! Don't waste your money. I only bought them so that I can watch my fabulous Sony TV when my boyfriend is sleeping. If I were looking for something with quality, I'd have returned these immediately. There is lots of static. For my purposes, they are fine. However, I would not recommend them to anyone!

Cons:
NONE
We have two of these headphones for our family room Bravia TV that are WONDERFUL. We enjoy British movies and you can actually understand every word using the headphones. He wears them for all TV watching as he is a bit hard of hearing and I don't have to endure the loud sound. I can even mute the TV, and he can listen at whatever volume through the headset. I bought them at Brookstone, but now they just have their brand. BAD! We set it up in the bedroom. The volume you get through the headset is what the TV is set on. Therefore you can't have one person sleep with the other is watching TV like with these Sony ones.
We should have come to this site for another Sony.

Pros:

Cons:
Hiss & Static
I got these with the express purpose of enjoying TV while exercising. The amount of extra hiss & static was unbearable when on the treadmill . . . an absolute waste of money.
What were they thinking when advertising materials show people on equipment with big smiles. This is not the Sony I loved as a boy.

Pros:
Solid signal, quality sound, excellent recharger/stand
Cons:
a bald head without hair would appreciate padding on top.
I was looking for wireless headphones. Most were radio type. These are infrared. Downside is that they are line of sight so I can't wander the house and get a signal. The upside is that when I am in the room they give a solid signal that I don't have to tune. I use these in bed so I don't keep my wife up with TV noise. The stereo signal is very good and the sound is much better than I expected. The rechargeable battery is great. All you have to do is drop the phones in the charger and they are ready for you next time. My bald head would appreciate a little padding on the top, but overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. I happened upon them at Circuit City - but they don't seem to sell them on line. They should. Good price for a good product. It has my endorsement.

Pros:
Got 'em cheap
Cons:
Hissand static are unbearable
When I wear a pair of headphones, I find it annoying to hear a little bit of hiss or static that is not from the source audio, but for relatively cheap products, I can deal with it. With the Sony MDR-IF240RK headphones, the constant hiss and static are nearly as loud as the source audio. This happens if I am 1 foot away from the transmitter or 10 feet away. I have tried using both the Red/White RCA to minijack setup and the minjack to minijack setup, and both work as horribly as each other. And no, I am not using a plasma TV. These headphones are useless. Even if they were four bucks, I would advise you not to buy them.

Pros:
Reasonable cost, easy setup, pretty light headset.
Cons:
No padding for top of head(no hair!).
I'm not an audiophile so I didn't expect that quality, but sound quality is much better than I expected. Just using this for strictly watching TV at night without disturbing the sleeping family(the wife really appreciates this as I have hearing loss). I'm sure that IR is a better method of transmission than radio waves due to less possible electrical interference. ` Very happy with this purchase!

Pros:

Cons:
They make an unbearable hissing and crackling sound, even within a cm of the transmitter.
Do not buy these, they are unusable, they make an extremely loud an irritating hissing and crackling noise, while barely being able to hear the actual sound they are meant to be playing. Absolute waste of money, if their were 0 stars, that's what I would give this.

Pros:
Lightweight, comfortable, and cheap
Cons:
When signal is lost all you hear is static which drives me insane
This is perfect. It's got the volume on the headset itself, and that's pretty convenient, easy to hook up, long battery life, etc. The only downside for me so far is that when I go to use the bathroom and it loses connection with its stand, all you hear is loud static. Drives me crazy. But for its price, I guess that's negligible.

These will not work with a 50" Panasonic Plasma TV. There is too much interference from the TV.
Also tried on a 36" Panasonic LCD. They worked much better but still had a slight static noise in the background.
The headphones are comfortable.
Price is right.
