Sony ECMMS907 Review

Pros: This mic has a verry good size and gtood building quality.

Cons: Verry short calbe, very very sensible product.

I went to buy this mic expecting that it would be worth the buy, when i got home i connected to my computer hoping for some good sound quality. i puted on some headphones and started talking to the mic but always changing the distance wich i was speaking. And the sound quality proved to be not bad but still, leaves alot to be decired. From a microphne that costs 99 dolars it still leave a lot to be decired. The thing that i got realy realy sad about this mic is ist sesitivity ( not the sound sensitivity ). One day after i boutght the mic i connected to my camera but by acident not realy connected the mic proprely it fell on to the floor from about 1 meter height and it fell on to the carpet so i picked up from the floor and connected back to my camera and got absolutly no response, that was realy frustrating. Basicly if you are going to use this on a boom pole or for professional videos dont buy this, instead buy a shot gun mic like this one "Azden smx10 shotgun mic" wich is pretty cheap and pretty good. but if you are going to use it for homebrew movies go ehead and buy it but remember it has alot to be decired.

good mic, non-standard base

Pros: good sound quality

Cons: mic stand has non-standard threads

I have owned this mic for several years, and have used it many times for various applications. Overall, the sound quality is good and the 90° and mid-side options are useful. The battery consumption is minimal, and the power light will flash red when you turn it on to indicate battery life is good. My only problem with this item it the mic "stand" that come with it will not attach to a conventional microphone stand. I am a musician, and the hole diameter is nearly 3/4" with very coarse threads. Conventional mic stands use 5/8" diameter with a much finer thread. So, if I want to attach the ECM-MS907 to a conventional mic stand, I need to find an adapter of some sort. I have used generic microphone clips in lieu of the ECM-MS907's mic stand, but I'd like to find an adapter. Why SONY used this non-standard hole and thread configuration is baffling... All in all, its a good mic.

Fantastic Microphone

Pros: Small; lightweight; zero to very low noise; crystal clear sound quality

Cons: Battery-operated; stand not long enough, so must be propped on table/mike stand

About 4 years ago, I bought this microphone when I was looking for one that I could use with my mini disc recorder (and now digital voice recorder). As a classical singer who sings mainly with piano and sometimes orchestra, it was very important to have a microphone with very low noise and echo/reverberation. I was stunned by the results that this little microphone yielded. It sounded just like a studio recording, capturing only my voice and the piano. I have used this microphone in a small room as well as a large hall, and got the same consistent outstanding results. My MD recorder no longer works, but this microphone does! I recently bought a Digital Voice Recorder, and the microphone works just as well with that! I have sent many demos that were recorded with this microphone, and was always told that the recording always sounded professionally made. This is one of the best investments I have ever made.
