When will Sony learn?

Pros: None

Cons: Does not charge battery.

I guess I don't learn, either. Tired of proprietary connectors on their cameras (can't just hook up/charge with miniUSB). I was going to buy this since I misplaced the charger - thinking that it would be useful to me even once I found the charger - but to my shock - it does not charge the camera! You make great products, but still manage to muck it up with boxing the consumer in and making stupid accessories. Why not just use mini-usb and charge via that? Still irritated with you creating *another* memory card standard long ago - as if there weren't already enough...

Not Connected

Pros: not sure

Cons: not advised

I purchased the camera and discovered the battery charger is not an ac adapter. I learned the adapter is a separate purchase so I ordered it online. When I received the adapter I discovered there was no place to attach it to the camera. It appears I have to order yet another part in order to use the ac adapter I now have. This is not the practice I am use to from Sony. I am dissapponted with the bait and switch tactics experienced with this purchase.

Useless to charge battery

Pros: NONE

Cons: ALL

This cable is advertised as being able to charge the battery without having to remove it from the camera. That is false, even if you buy a 2nd cable $40 ($80 total) it will still NOT charge the battery. Instead, you have to take the battery out of the flimsy door. That is just silly. My Casio which is 7 years old has ONE cable that plus into the wall. Simple. I do like my Sony camera but I have serious doubts about the thought process of the Sony Engineers. Buy a different camera with less headaches.

Extra VMC-MD1 Cable Not Always Required

Pros: One great way to avoid battery-life concerns.

The new DSC-TX7 comes with a multi-output stand to which this adapter can connect making it unnecessary to buy a multi-use terminal cable, at least for that incredible model. Determine what is included, or not, with your camera.
