Pros:
small package, works as advertised. guide frame is neat
Cons:
no focus / iris / exposure controls. zoom lacks mid speed switch
The remote integrates well into the handle. Nice packaging for most beginner use. I had no choice but to get this one since the guy at Sony Style store told me Sony doesn't make a remote only product for my CX550V. Shame really, the remote is nice, but the tripod doesn't do what I want it to do. Also I have a Manfrotto, so I rather not carry 2 tripods with me. Maybe I'll rip out this remote and strap it on the Manfrotto. Such a waste though. Wished they made a RM1BP equivalent for the handycams. I rather put $200 into a real remote instead of a walmart tripod with a dumbed down remote.

Pros:
Smooth and fluid movement, included carrying case, remote control on handle
Cons:
Somewhat pricey
This tripod is fantastic! It is super compact for carrying, but can expand to a large, regular size tripod. The remote control handle makes filming and zooming easier than ever!
I would like to point out that this tripod does indeed work the Sony Handycam HDR-HC9 although it is not listed under compatible devices. The tripod remote functions completely with this camera.
Finally, the price is somewhat high, but the tripod can be bought from Amazon.com for 50% off the Sony price (don't know how long it will last though!)
I highly recommend this tripod! I get compliments every time I use it!

This VCT-60AV has been with me everywhere from home to San Diego, CA to Las Vegas, NV and Los Angeles, CA. I fly with the VCT-60AV, Jog With the VCT-60AV, I've thrown it. It's Been kicked, Dragged, covered in dirt, and dropped.
The VCT-60AV has Endured Air shows, Boat Races, Dirt Oval Stock races, Classic War-bird Flights, Falcon watching, Astronomy, Weather, Rocket launch Observation, The Beach, Time-lapse Cinematography, Auto Shows.
This Tripod also acts as a mono-pod by only extending one leg.
This and I'm sure every other Sony Tripod will provide you with nothing but greater or equal quality as mine still does to this today And I am Certain long into the next few years. I love this thing, even all the oils have maintained their silky smoothness.
The VCT-60AV Is a Sony Tripod.

Pros:
lightweight, durable, built-in controls, smooth panning, keeps camera image still
Cons:
none
If you have a sony camcorder and you need a tripod this one is perfect! The remote control is very convenient. The tripod pans very smoothly and the video is not shaky at all. It is super light weight and portable. It comes with a bag to transport it. Overall this is a great tripod. Does everything you need a tripod to do plus more.

Pros:
Improved Zoom Control
Cons:
Does not have a LANC connection
I have two Sony VCT-D680RM tripods, which preceded this tripod. Zoom control is very touchy and much improved on this model. Sony should produce an adapter for this tripod connection so it could be used with the tens of thousands of mini-dv camcorders still in use with LANC connections.

Pros:
the Remote
Cons:
A?VR wire getting Possible damage
Overall the Tripod sweet I nabbed a bird clear as day with the digital zoom on my New hdr-xr260v and it was rock solid for a subject 4 blocks away in a tree that's some crazy shot. I'm happy with it. The camcorder model not on the tripods compatible list but it has all the features and the VR remote works like a charm. Nice tripod Sony. HandyCam too
