Pros:
Clarity and precision in sound quality, with emphasis on highs, solid mids
Cons:
Bass is somewhat lacking, but can be fixed with clear bass boost
The Sony MDR-EX700lp's are simply the best IEM model that I've owned. Before purchasing these, I've owned the Sony MDR-EX300s. Since I was happy with the Sony MDR-EX300s, I decided to upgrade to the Sony MDR-EX700s, and I have to say, what an upgrade! These pair of earbuds really emphasize the high end, while still giving a solid mid-bass. The low-bass is somewhat lacking, but this is due to such overemphasized highs that will blow your mind. The sound is also crystal clear, and as many people have described, they are also very WARM. I do not find the highs harsh at all. I find that the overemphasis on highs helps to bring out the outstanding clarity of sound the Sony MDR-EX700s produce. I still have to burn these in, and after a couple of hours or so I am hoping a little more bass kicks in. However, I am very pleased with the overall sound quality of the Sony MDR-EX700s.
*UPDATE*
It's been a little more than 50 hours of burn-in, and I am happy to report that the bass has increased quite a bit, while the high end has become less harsh. Also, I have been listening at a lower volume on my Sony X-Series, and find that the Sony MDR-EX700s have greater clarity, balance, and precision! The lows and mids are very controlled, yet exhibit such precise detail. The sibilance has decreased, but is still present. The highs are still very much emphasized, yet not harsh at all. I find it very pleasing to listen to. Overall, I am still very impressed with the Sony MDR-EX700lp's.

Pros:
Great sound , comfe
Cons:
Overprice, cord is somewhat strange length
I saw these in 2007 while I was Tokyo
Went to Taiwan after and read in a magazine which had
High review on it.
I wanted a pair right away but at $300 it was too
much.
In 2008, Sony finally came out in the USA with these.
I waited til 2009 when I pick up an pair from an Sony employee for $120
These are the best in ear headphone I've ever heard.
The only better ones are bigger over the head ones and they are heavy.
Btw these are so good china make fake knockoff
And sell them on eBay.
Beware of fakes.
After 1 year I decided to give it a good review since
It sounds good still and I would buy another pair again later once it goes bad.

Pros:
Amazing Bass
Cons:
Short cord
When I saw these headphones on the website I thought that these would be the end all and be all to earbud headphones. I thought they where too expensive but I love music and place no price on quality when it comes to sound quality. I love sony products and exclusively use sony for all of my entertainment equiptment. I ordered these with great anticipation. I have to says once I opened the package the first disapointmnet came with the cord length. WOW !!! What where you guys thinking about by making it so short I had to order another extention cord so that I could use them comfortably which cost me more money and added one more thing I had to carry around. I might add that the specifications on the website says that all the premium earbud headsets have the same length cord this is very untrue. Ok so I thought, I can deal with this if the sound quality pans out. I plugged them into my iPod touch and well, the bass was amazing but there is very little highs and the vocals sound muffled because of all the bass. These headphones are better for HipHop but not for Rock. They do nothing for the highs in Rock. I had to keep increasing the volume and adjusting the EQ on the iPod to try and reach an agreeable balance. The bass will hurt your ears but not the treble no matter how high you raise the volume. These headphones could have been so much more.

Pros:
Crisp Highs, precise Mids (Overall: Excellent Soundstage)
Cons:
Paint wears off after a while, and cable always ends up with lots of knots.
I have owned several In Ear Monitors (IEMs) until now, and this one easily makes it to the top.
I own Westone 3, Westone UM3X, Sennheiser IE8, Shure SE530, Klipsch X10, and MDR-EX700LP.
Bass:
1) IE8, 2) Westone 3, 3) EX700LP
Highs:
1) SE530, 2) EX700LP, 3) UM3X
Mids:
1) EX700LP, 2) SE530, 3) UM3X
Lows:
1) UM3X, 2) IE8, 3) EX700LP
Overall soundstage:
1) tie between EX700LP, UM3X, Wesone 3, Klipsch X10
2) SE530
3) IE8
.
Summary:
IE8 are best for bass, but too muddy, and many find the fit is not too comfortbable. SE530 is amazing overall, but severely lacks in bass. Westone 3 and UM3X are all excellent, and top notch in every respect (very High end monitors). Klipsch X10 is exactly similar to EX700lp (only the design is different). But EX700LP meets all the in-ear-monitors at their respected levels and most importantly best "bang" for the "buck" (when comparing the prices). I highly recommend buying a portable amp to make the most out of EX700LP (to take it to the next level).

Pros:
SOUND QUALITY, design, faithfullness to the sound
Cons:
Cant be any
These earphones stand the best when compared to other earphones from shure, senheiser, etymotic, and JVC. The quality is phenominal for the price. They produce details and clarity that you cant get from other manufacturers. The design of the drivers and the housing is brilliant. I have never seen such thought and creativity put into the design. The magnets are insane and its what makes them so efficient, powerfull, and elegant. The drivers are twice the size of most earbuds, but use half the power to produce similar volumes. Brilliant design. The sound is entirely faithfull to the music and has amazing fullbodied sound with excellent detail to all frequencies. These drivers need to be used and broken in to get stunning results. They sound better the more you use them.

Pros:
The connection ???
Cons:
The new design of longer length cable on one side.
I dislike the connectors that are bent. I cannot stand that bent side sticking side ways while I jog or walk plus its an eyesore. I prefer the connector to be straight always in every model. I also prefer the length of the cables to be equal, it is also annoying to have different size lengths. Might as well have the desing complete the luxury.

Pros:
Warm highs, Punchy bass, Clear mids
Cons:
Kinda pricey for earbuds.
These earbuds do sound really good they have very clear punchy bass and alot of clear mids and the highs are warm sounding. I do have to say that these earbuds sound warm on the highs meaning they aren't really bright but that doesn't mean it's bad since there are alot of people who like warm highs. I guess it also depends on what kind of music you listen to. Me I prefer little more brighter on the highs so I can really hear the stings on the guitar. I can still hear the strings but just not as bright. But it maybe good that it isn't soo bright so it won't hurt your ears after listening to music for many hours.

Pros:
Sound quality
Cons:
Paint job
If anyone is looking for a portable earcanal headphone with the best possible sound quality then look no further. This headphone uses world's largest 16mm driver. It produces great sound from lowerst to highest ranges with very good separation, that is no sound mufflings (clear high and great bass production).
After using this for a year, sound still sounds great, although the grey paint has been slowly fading... Other than that, its built quality is also very good.

Pros:
Sound equal to high-quality full-sized earphones (i.e. the best available)
Cons:
Break-away cable would be a plus and lighter weight
I'd tried dozens of earphones ranging from $3 to $300, but when I came upon these I knew I could stop searching. The soundstage, the balance, the fullness, the presence, detail, nuance--it was all there. No artificially-enhanced bass, no sibilance, no thinness in the middle. The fit was not as foolproof and adhesive as, say, the JVC Marshmallows, but the heavier weight and 16mm driver is a necessary trade-off for sound this good. I caught the cable on one side on a door handle and damaged one speaker. Wish I could simply screw it off and order another one. Beware of drastically-discounted clones.
