Pros:
Works
Cons:
Cost, and why
I am not sure why the other reviewer has problems, but my elinchrom EL-Skyport Speed works as expected with my 850.
Although it works, but why did Sony come out with a proprietary hotshoe mount is beyond me. The one who came up with this idea, and all those who supported it at Sony headquarter should be banned from photography for life. We have to pay $130 so that we can use STANDARD strobes? Give me a break.
I recommend it only because you have no choice if you want to use a STANDARD strobe.

Pros:
Works as claimed
Cons:
Does not signal the camera that a flash is attached
Let me join others to say this accessory has a serious flaw. When you use a camera with a live preview the camera makes an adjustment when using the built in flash or one of Sony's flashes. Without this adjustment, the screen will be very dim, since the camera is adjusted for a flash exposure that is brighter than the ambient light. This adapter should also signal the camera to go into flash mode and lighten the preview, but it does not.
