Great Bass headphones, but with some drawbacks

Pros: Amazing bass. The sound is very crisp and clear. Good value.

Cons: Treble gets a bit muddy. Very claustrophobic.

I bought these headphones on a whim. At first I loved them, the bass is super rich and clear. Dubstep has never sounded better :) However, if you listen mainly to rock or any music with notes in more of the mid/high range, these might not be for you. Sometimes vocals get a bit muddy and drowned out by the instruments. A lot of my grunge now has a treble equalizer on it, which has made the sound for these headphones much better. Also, they are very tight and conforming around the ear so they can get claustrophobic! All in all, they are a great value and the bass is fantastic, however, they do have some drawbacks.

I compared these headphones to my friends 400$ pair of monster beats by Dr dre and I put him to shame. literally he walk away crying!! aha! he was so mad that my 80$ pair of headphones put his 400$ pair of headphones to shame:P so if your looking for some awesome headphones with great sound and bass buy these!!

Better than Dr. Dre solo HD

Pros: Very responsive bass, bass doesn't outweigh treble, very loud, cheap!

Cons: slight sound leakage, painful ear aches if worn for more than 3 hours.

Awesome headphones. I've had 5 different sony headphones before, and these by far are the best in every way. Very cheap for such high quality; the bass is extraordinary, but not just very high, its very rational to the treble. For $80, these are a definite steal. Highly recommended.

Forget the Beats, these are a Sony steal!!!

Don't let the Cons turn you away from these awesome headphones. If you listen to music quite often and are looking to get you a decent pair of headphones...these are IT!!! I am an avid music listener (listen more than I watch television) and was thinking about getting the Beats. But, Sony being my favorite electronic brand, I had to give the company a chance at what it can offer. Boy did Sony deliver with this series model. I own the XB-500's and have enjoyed every listening minute with them. In comparison to the Beats, honestly, I think they sound just as excellent if not better!!! This is no exaggeration, these headphones will seriously keep your ears tuned into what you're listening to (especially when you begin to appreciate how beautiful the whole-some bass sounds!!!) I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile but if you are honest with yourself...these headphones are a sound investment to make without having to fork up a few hundred bills for a pair of Beats. Nevermind the Cons I mentioned, chances are you'll forget about them once these cuff soundly around your ears. Like I said earlier, if you're in the market for some headphones, you'll appreciate this post. You won't be disappointed!! Go Sony!!!

Best headphones ever!

These headphones are by far are the best headphones I've tried on. they are comfy, and have stunning sound quality. Equivalent to Bose, only with better and really awesome bass. I was so excited to get these for Christmas!

I am currently listening to these headphones as I write this review. these headphones have exceptional bass, highs, and mids, overall a very clear sound that bumps when the time comes. I listen to a lot of hip hop and dubstep and these headphones the heavy bass from both music genres. if you are worried about the sound leaking and want to know how loud it actually sounds, just put the headphones around your knee and add a little bit of pressure .....trust me it's not a lot of sound leakage so i wouldn't worry about it. overall these headphones have excelled my expectations especially since I saw them in the store on sale for 49.99 and then looked on here and saw they were 119.99 so I got a fantastic deal and got a great pair of headphones.

In a league of thier own

I have own this head for about a week aand have yet to put them down. I am hearing beats and sounds before that were unhearable or being distorted.

I had the for a little under a year. They just broke on me. The plastic around the screws on the right earphone broke and it made me sad a bit. Maybe I will get the 1000's or try repair.

These headphones are fantastic. The bass is wonderful. It's like there are two subs right next to your ears. They always tell you to not turn it up to loud, but on occasion, do. It will blow your mind. The cord is nice and short, easy to deal with. The carrying pouch is a great thing to have too. If you are a classic rock fan, or a indie kid, that kind of music doesn't sound as good with these headphones. However, if you like hip- hop, or electronic music, or anything with lots of bass, you will soon fin yourself in heaven. They are by far the best headphones for <$100. A great buy.

Love these phones

Pros: Good Sound Quality, good bass, very comfy

I like these headphones a lot. I use them everyday and have never had a problem with them being uncomfortable. They look pretty kick a** and sound even better, and there not too big either. My one problem with them is that they produce a lot of sound for others to hear. It's not a big problem, but personally I don't like other people hearing my music or being bothered by it. Overall great purchase, worth every Pennie.

I've been hunting for a good sounding pair of headphones that have good bass and comfortable at the same time for a reasonable price and so far there was nothing...Until now :) Unfortunately these aren't available in India yet so I had them shipped from Amazon through a friend and it was completely worth it. Be warned though, to get the most out of it it's better you connect it to a PC with a good sound card. I first tried it with my iPod but the bass was overpowering a little muddy, nothing a little EQ settings cant fix but still. On a PC though, they sound completely different and are perfect out of the box, no tinkering with the EQ required. All those people complaining about sound leakage are probably using it with their mp3 players cause with an iPod, for some weird reason the sound leaks a lot since you have to turn up the volume quite high to power these 40mm drivers. The only thing negative is the stupidly short cord which is a bit of a problem when hooking up to the PC like in my case. You could use a extension cord but I would say dont, just plug it into your front panel connector. Overall I could not be happier with these and I strongly recommend you get these over anything else, they're a steal at this price!

I recently purchased these headphones and I can honestly say they're spectacular! I can literally listen for hours and forget they're on my head. The bass sticks out and rolls on immaculately, yet doesn't over-power the music. One flaw to a handful of people is the amount of sound the headphones leak. To enjoy these thoroughly a volume must be pumped up, yet they do give a lot of sound. I myself don't mind but to others it is rather annoying. Other than that the headphones are perfect! definitely worth the cash/

Understandable. I've had them for over an year. I carry them in my backpack with books and laptop daily (they take lots of damage), and no problems. The leather slightly wears off and falls apart, but it's ok because they sound great even when plugged in in a cheap mp3 player. I don't think I would ever use different headphones. By the way they keep your ears worm in the winter in Chicago, which makes me like them even more.

When you get something that can push these things to the max they will leave you in aww. The bass is very clear no muffling or distortion. I looked around for headphones alot and I thought I would give these a try and they are very good. They aren't noise cancellation but you can't hardly hear anything on the outside. I have a pretty good system in my car and theese headphones deliver the same quality. I was quite surprised by how powerful they were and the lows that I could hear and the rumble of the bass.
