Pros:
easy to operate; light; catches sound well; user-friendly; interview functionlal
Cons:
playback volume is too low
I bought this so that I could have the voice of my beloved stepMother on tape. She talked about pictures that I showed her, and this so-small, relatively inexpensive Sony recorder served well for this personal, most important "interview (beware! The wonderfully sensitive mic picks up rustling papers, ear-irritating to listen to in playback!)."
For these basic recording functions, it was simple to use right out of the box. I am happy to know that it's compatible with Windows, and that even some of the other multiple functions suit me well (folders, long storage time, etc.).
I drive a lot, and I use these recorders to note thoughts as I am driving. Using a voice recorder to "get them down" is an efficient, safe way of making a list to check back to later. I believe that my life remains organized, due, in part, to my use of voice recorders in the car! Much better, anyway, than writing them down while barreling down the causeway!
This little Sony serves these basic purposes perfectly. Very simple to use, and so small and easy to carry around -- right in my hand.

Pros:
worked fine for a couple of months
Cons:
then stopped working!
Unit worked for about 100 recordings (very light use over four months), then the internal mic ceased to work. Plugging in an external microphone is now the only way to record. Warranty was useless. Definitely won't be replacing it with another Sony product.
