Pros:
Full HD Video, high detailed images, can make light painting too
Cons:
Nothing
Before i bought this product,i read a tonn of reviews and opinions, i saw on many sites that people wrote : you can't manually set shutter speed or do light painting with it.
No,thats not true. Yes you can do, there is the manual mode, where you can set the shutter speed,ISO etc... I'm very impressed and happy to see what it can do,iEase mode is also very reliable in light,it selects so easily and fast the scene mode for the shot.In dark places or at night you can use again the manual settings,so don't say that it can't take good photos at night.I took two shots, whit shutter speed set at 15", and f/8.0,and made light painting, max setting of shutter is 30".

Pros:
10X optical zoom, sweep panaroma...
Cons:
UI could ve been better, images without external light source during night are grainy...
I was looking for a compact point and shoot digital camera with a high optical zoom lens.. I was soo looking forward to getting this cam and it was worth the wait.. The intelligent point and shoot mode is brilliant.. The sweep panaroma is by far the best feature.. the photos taken during the night(as in natural conditions without any external light source) are a little grainy though...
The quality of the video recording is great for a camera at this price..
If you are looking for an easy to use point and shoot with a few manual settings and high optical zoom, this is probably the best option...

Pros:
Compact, battery life, hd movie mode, intel auto mode, pic quality
Cons:
slow power down time (off), slight color tinting (edges), weight
Recently purchased this camera and I am amazed by the astonishing quality of the photos it takes. You don't need a very steady hand to take great photos with this mini machine of a camera. The quick auto focus and face detection software makes taking pictures a snap! A bonus is the panoramic function, quality in this mode suffers a little, but it is still a neat function. The HD movie mode looks great on a computer once downloaded, Sony could have put a couple more holes in the camera to allow more sound to be received/heard. The 25 mm lens is great because of the wide-angle quality and the Carl Zeiss/Sony G lens.
I am an avid hiker/biker and I needed a compact, rugged camera that would allow me to take great, memorable pictures. The DSC H55 filled that requirement with astonishing shots. The only "gripe" I have with the camera is that the lens and processor produces slight color tinting on the edges in sunlight (outside shots) and the powerdown time takes a little bit of time (1.33-2.0 seconds).
So if you are looking for a great camera, look no further, this camera will not disappoint!

Pros:
Compact, functionality, several photographic modes
Cons:
Not so "steady" steady shooting
I have "played" with photography since childhood, and have learned much about lenses, shutter speeds, light, etc. When I ventured into buying a new camera, I was interested in a Canon. SInce I have been a - by primary choice - Canon consumer.
I began by reading the specs of all the cameras available at the store. As I progressed, I looked at the price, functionality, and other ammenities (steady shot). While other cameras offered the steadiness at a higher, more precise end, the price, functionality and other details (lens, zooming, MM opening, etc) of the Sony came up as higher "value" for the money.
I must say that the only function I find that is less than expected is the "steadiness" detail.
Frankly, I am surprised that the camera could not perform better, especially since all of the rest of it is truly of a superior nature.
I am not necessarily swayed from Canon, but I understand now why in other "professional" evaluating revies Sony has been considered a true rival to Canon. I hope to see more and better. Go Sony!

Pros:
Size, Options, IntelliAuto
Cons:
Not touch screen.
First, the best thing about this camera besides it's ability to take OUTSTANDING pictures is that it will take Pro Duo memory sticks (which I don't like) AND SD memory cards (which I have a ton of).
The only thing that would make this camera better would have been touch screen. Worth every penny I spent on this camera.

Pros:
Super crisp shots, Ease of use
Cons:
haven't found any
Bought this camera to replace my old one. Have spent 2 solid days taking pics in every possible situation, in every lighting, day, evening, inside and out. You can't hardly take a bad pic with this thing. It's supper easy to use, has awesome point and shoot and easy to adjust settings when I want to. Controls are in comfortable places. You can't go wrong with this camera and it was a great price also. I am setting 20 ft away from hummingbird feeder and wow, what a shot! Crisp, clear shots in every situation I tried and I tried everything I could think of including action shots of son's football practice. Even those were crisp and clear. Love this thing!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:
Full HD video, 14.1mp, compact, sweep panarama, active image sabilization, auto Intelligent adjustment.
This is a GREAT camera. I have used a Kodak easyshare z612 for years and thought it was an ok. It took good pics but in low light situations it just didnt cut it. So I went looking for a new one. Looked at alot and came acrossed this one. The sweep panarama shot caught my eye. I thought that would be great for my upcomeing carribean cruise and the auto adjust is great cause you dont have to change settings for different scenes. You can go from a low light situation to outside sun and the camera adjusts itself for you. Its great. The video is great because it captures in 1080 HD. I am glad I bought this camera and have NO regrets what so ever. These pics were taken with this camera. from a 6X zoom to a close up macro shot which the camera did all the settings automatically!!!! Great camera for the price. AND IT USES BOTH MEMORY STICK DUO AND SD!!!!!!

Pros:
Great Lens/ Large Screen/ Compact Size/ 10x Zoom/ Acceptable Battery Life
Cons:
When you take pictures in low light, the display seems a little fuzzy but turns out clear after the picture.
The DSC-H55 is the best compact camera I have found that Sony makes for the price. Every picture I have taken has been absolutely stunning. The panorama mode works better than expected but is a little hard to get the hang of at first. You have to go slowly or else you end up with a photo with only half of peoples body... The flash is incredibly overbearing for its size it makes sure every square inch of the photo is bright but not too bright; even during the nighttime it looks like daylight, that is if you even need the flash. This camera practically takes the pictures for you with smile shutter and the face recognizing self timer. Not to mention the amazing zoom. My friend used it once and decided she was going to get rid of her old one to get the DSC-H55. I could go on and on about this camera. It is by far the best overall camera with the quality you expect from Sony at an EXTREMELY reasonable price. Things aren't always two good to be true.

Cons:
Defective
I have been a Sony fan for years now, and when I bought this camera I was elated! I was so happy with the picture quality and size of the camera. I have had the camera for about two years now AND IT IS ALREADY DEAD!! I babied this camera, I never dropped it, never got it wet, never did anything wrong and it JUST STOPPED WORKING! It does not display anything on the viewfinder when in use. Before it stopped working all together, the images appeared purple and nasty. Then it stopped alltogether. SONY, IF YOU HAVE ANY SENSE AND COMPASSION, YOU WILL RECALL THIS CAMERA!! I AM GETTING MY MONEY BACK!!

Pros:
Nice pictures
Cons:
The battery has to be taken out of the camera to charge it
The simple fact that I have to take the battery out of the camera to charge it makes this camera non portable. And to make the package more cumbersome, the USB cord is huge. This camera as semi-slim as it appears, needs a separate case to bring its battery charger and very large USB cord. Very inefficient.

Pros:
Low light detail, large screen, very informative
Cons:
none
I was in the market for a camera that would give me better photo quality than a simple point and shoot but not quite as in depth as a dSLR. I came across this camera and decided to actually go and check it out in person. The price had me hooked immediately so I bought it. I was surprised by the fact that the camera powered on and starting adjusting itself to the conditions of the room automatically. Another big plus is shooting HD video with the awesome image stabilization so the videos don't have that "homemade" look. Battery life is excellent and the screen is large and CRISP. I highly recommend this camera.

Cons:

This camera has unbelievable demand in India as I had to search for this camera in every shopping mall and it was out of stock everywhere. Finally I found it in a shop the day when I was supposed to leave for my vacation to GOA and it took only few mins for me to understand its functions. I took Psychedelic party pics with SCAN mode, my pics with Intelligent picture mode and good landscape pics as well. The output is very nice and clear...

Pros:
25mm lens, video stability, design
Cons:
horrible picture quality
Bought this camera today. I was playing with it in my well lit livingroom and was impressed. I was surprised that I was able to take a picture of my whole livingroom wall which is about 18 feet thanks to the 25mm lens. I then dimmed the lights and tried the exact same pictures, horrible. the LCD screen is ridiculously grainy and the picture itself is just as bad. I played with the different functions trying to get better quality, but nothing worked and I got frustrated. I was expecting a lot more out of my 14.1 mp camera. I like almost everything about this camera except for the quality of the picture, which is obviously the most important thing. I think I will return this and try out the Sony HX1, although about $100 more and only 9.1 mp there's much better reviews and it's advertised for use in lower light. For the $350 I paid for the H55 I am very dissappointed.

Pros:
Great zoom, and huge 14.1 MP in a small package
Cons:
Not good in low light, burst speed not as good as WX1
I bought this camera at Best Buy recently, and I think it is a very good camera. However, I like some of the features more on the DSC-WX1: 10 picture/second burst mode, hand held twilight mode, smaller size/weight, and the Exmore R sensor. Don't get me wrong, this is a great camera, but some of the features of the WX1 will be better for me.
With either of these cameras, I would say they are more oriented to point and shoot users, not users who want a long of manual controls. I do think that the menus could be a little bit more intuitive, but overall I am very impressed at what features Sony packs into such a small package. I would recommend this camera to someone who really wants the zoom feature instead of the other options in the WX1, but doesn't want to pay for the HX5V.
On a side note, I would have never considered Sony before because of their proprietary memory sticks. All of the newer models that I have looked at can take SCHC cards, so that was a huge plus for me.

this is an awesome camera. I got it today and have already burned through 2 gbs of mem. Ilove the panorama because you don't have to take multiple shots and crop them, I'm also a beginner and this is my 2nd camera, the kodak I HAD TANKED, the battery that comes with it is great, I took at least 200 photos before changing the batteries, in low light, it has no problem with resolution, my friend has a DSLR and he likes most of the functions on the h55 better than his expensive camera. All in all, this is a great camera for the amount it costs, and has A LOT of cool functions.

Cons:
slow, painfully slow between shots
I was hoping for more. I have had some success shooting my cats when they are perfectly still- macro zoom is tempermental and takes getting used to. Forget about shooting things like birds or anything fast moving. It's very slow between shots. It's Ok, but I would be remiss if I didn't say I was disappointed.
