Pros:
25x zoom. 120GB HDD. High Definition. Easy to use
Cons:
Does not come with HDMI cables. Does not come with remote control for playback.
This is a great trade up from the entry level Sony Handycam that I purchased a few years ago. I like that it records in HD and saves on a huge hard drive. However being that I will playback all HD video through the camcorder I am disappointed that there is no remote control available and that an HDMI cable is not included. Most of my video will be kid's sporting events. Of course when playing back there is a lot of stopping, rewinding, slow motion, etc. Difficult without a remote.

Pros:
Clear crisp High definition video and pics
Cons:
Sony stupidly chose a 2.0 USB plug type that no one has!
I can not down load any of the video in the video recorder to my computer because Sony chose to use a USB plug type that is not available even at Best Buy where I bought the video recorder. I therefore give a failing grade for Compatability.I don't even see a compatable USB cord on the Sony website.

I bought the cheaper xr68 after reading some reviews that were mixed and after trying it I wasnt very impressed. One of the reviews mentioned this camera as being a better buy, and since then I have read alot of reviews for the XR150 that are all good. I am so excited to use this thing. Just ordered this and the other one is going back tomorrow!

Pros:
Excellent video and picture quality
Cons:
no mac support, other than imovie.
The best camcorder i have ever purchased, would be even better if it supported mac. it does work great with imovie, but would be nice to also use sony software. (get off your high horse sony and work with apple). but other than that i would recommend this camera to anyone, well worth the price.

Pros:
Love everything about this camera
Cons:
Wish it had a view finder for when out in bright light
I bought this camera a couple months ago. It has met all my expectations and even more. Light weight, easy to handle, shoots great video and photos. Simple to use, was shooting video and photos right out of the box without reading the manual. Still learning of new capabilities every time I use it. My only complaint is view finder is hard to see in bright sun.

Pros:
25x Optical Zoom, 120 GB Hard Drive, Ease of Use, The size is Awesome, Battery Life
Cons:
Wish it hade the G Lens, a Viewfinder, a Light, and a Microphone input
In the cons section I write: Wish it had the G Lens, a Viewfinder, a Light, and a Microphone input.
But let me tell you this Camcorder is Awesome!!
The video is life like, Crystal Clear, Bright, full of Life.
Even in the Dark the Video is Good.
It Downloads Fast and Easy into my computer using the Sony Software.
It’s also so easy to Upload Videos to Youtube or to send Video in Email.
The Camcorder is VERY EASY TO USE.
Just point and press the record button.
It has a 25x Optical Zoom, This is the reason that I got this Camcorder.
I needed the Zoom to film the kids in all the sports they are involved in.
Everything you need in a camcorder!!

Pros:
Good quality WHEN IT WORKS
Cons:
Hard drive gives bufferring error and stops recording
I am a very experienced camcorder user with +10 years of experience and no shaky hands at all using other model. Initially, this HDR-XR150 worked great for a few months. Then, the hard drive started giving bufferring errors frequently and the recording would stop after only 1.5 years of usage. Even tried formatting the hard drive few times caused it to work intermittently. It works ok on the memory card so it is a hard drive issue which is very unreliable. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY (+500 Usd) ON HARD DRIVE MODEL AND BUY A CHEAPER MODEL WITH RECORDING TO BE DONE JUST ON THE MEMORY CARD. This model should get a zero star rating.
