Pros:
It just works great.
Cons:
Can't think of any at the moment...
I don't know what the one and two star reviewers are doing wrong. I have had NONE of the problems they have mentioned. My machine works perfectly!!! It says you should have a "N" WiFi connection which I have and it works great. Some have said WiFi sucks...not mine. It's as fast as my computer and the router is on the second floor while the Sony is in the basement under the TV. I get 3 bars of signal and 8Mbts of stream which is what my cable provider (WOW) provides. Blue-Ray is great, 3D is great and Netflix and Amazon streams are flawless. Get a fast "N" WiFi conntction and you won't have any problems. The price is right and I think it has all the features most people need or want. Buy it, it's a good machine. THE END

Pros:
Interface and Apps
I eyed this BDP for a while, finally pulled the trigger and am very pleased. The key features that I choose Sony on was the mobile control and app selection. The loading speed is good and the apps out of the box are ideal. I tend to host many get togethers and access to personalized streaming media just made my events even better. Also the iPhone remote control adds to ease of leveraging the apps and overall experience in using this BDP. I highly recommend and the ability to stream music between Sony devices just put a few more Sony products in my future.
If I could ask for more features, it would be to build out the Facebook / web navigation and also expanding the capabilities of iPhone app. I would like to see an interface screen to see what the tv is showing. It would make remote nav a bit easier if I am out of the room.

Pros:
good picture
Cons:
terrible streaming, remote
I don't use DVD's. This player is terrible at streaming content. I use mostly Netflix, and have a Sharp that I have swapped out with it several times to be sure the network connection wasn't flawed.
Whether using wired, or wireless connection, it regularly stops playing while it tries to load more data. The player tests the speed of the connection when you start a stream, and always shows more than 10 Mbps, so it should not freeze. The sharp ($10 less) never freezes.
I exchanged the 1st one, thinking it was just a bad player. The 2nd one is just as bad. Flawed design, or cheap components. Most likely needs some on board RAM as a buffer.
Menus for system settings are counter intuitive. The remote is laid out in a pattern that is not consistent with typical function patterns, so you have to look down at it to find the function you want to use.
Very disappointing experience for a company like Sony. Getting a refund this time.

Pros:
Very Easy to set up. Beautiful picture. Great internet apps. Easy internet set-up
Cons:
Registering the internet apps. was a little complicated.
I am very pleased with this player. It was a replacement for the Sony 570. Very compact and easy to set-up. The internet connection was very easy and the firmware updates were almost completely automatic when connected.

Cons:
Wont stream Tivo files until they are unwrapped
Got this on sale at Best Buy. Took it out of the box, connected to HDMI switch, plugged in power cord and ethernet cable. When I turned it on the first thing it did was look for the hardwired network connection. Took about 2 minutes to set that up. It then went and downloaded and installed the latest firmware automaticly which was really nice. Took about another 2 or 3 minutes to make things on my PC availble for streaming. Only thing it won't play are Tivo files until they are unwrapped. For the price I paid this has been a really good choice.

Pros:
Blu-Ray picture quality
Cons:
Netflix support, lack ofDivx/AVI support, Unable to read NTFS
I am a sony fan boy and really disappointed with SONY blu-ray players. Let me start with cons first of this player. This player absolutely junk when coming to Netflix support. The interface is very basic and you should add movies on your computer before watch on TV. Every other blu-ray player on the earth got updated interface and sony still using basic one. The lack of support for DivX/AVI is another disadvantage. Samsung and others support playback of popular formats but SONY is not. Another big con is lack of support for NTFS formats. Who on the earth using FAT32 anymore? We are in the age of USB 3.0 and lightpeak and SONY still using very old FAT 32 drives to support. If SONY wanted to restrict playing files more 4GB they have to control programatically not by imposing this FAT32 restriction. This player also do not read deep sub-folders and this can read only sub-folders upto two levels. The only thing I like about this player is picture quality. Otherwise this is a piece of junk.

Pros:
Acceptable Blu-Ray Playback
Cons:
Terrible Netflix Playback
Do not purchase this if you want to watch Netflix. Nearly every movie I have watched with this player gets into an endless cycle of re-buffering after about 15 minutes. If you do not believe me search the Sony support forums, BestBuy.com or cnet.com.
Sony will tell you the re-buffering is a problem with your internet connection. The only thing is I have five devices in my home that can play Netflix and this is the only one that ever has this kind of problem.
- I have had my connection tested and it is fine.
- The player is plugged directly into the router, no wireless
- I can start a movie on this player and have it fail and move to another player and it will complete without any problems.
My guess is this is a software issue that Sony may or may not fix in the future.
I purchased an extended warranty through Best Buy but it is useless for this problem. I was told it would have to be shipped to Sony for testing and if the hardware tests failed I would be charged $35. I bought this player for $179 and the warranty for $20 so I am not going to put anymore money into this.

Pros:
excellent picture quality, Wifi, internet capable
Cons:
a bit noisy when reading discs
I caught this player on sale (mislabeled?) for $89.00 not refurbished. I figured I couldn't go wrong for a blu ray-3D, wifi & internet capable player. It has gone beyond my expectations at double the price. Not if only I could figure out how to get into the internal memory...

Pros:
streams well, crisp HD picture, attractive
Cons:
connecting memberships took a while with support
This is a rather amazing unit especially for the price. Great picture and sound. We have very poor internet speed where we live and we can actually what an entire Netflix movie without buffering and with great sound and picture.
It is super frustrating to try to try to watch a program in Hulu thru this unit. My list of shows to watch appears very jumbled, w/o air dates and there are pages of them. It is just too much to sort through.
The "keypad" for entering names to search for channels in Pandora or movies in Netflix is PAINFUL. I read that there is an Android application to control unit from your tablet or phone. Please let me know what that app is. I have a Samsung Nexus phone and Galaxy 10.1 tablet.
Nice producct for watching movies.......web interface still needs smoothing out.

Pros:
hassle free, very easy to connect WiFi
Cons:
so many type of accounts to activate
product is sound, works great, especially with a secure wireless system. Worked so easy I convinced my room mate to switch from his Samsung which required an additional item to go wireless (and then required the network to be un-secure to work.) Only recommendation I have is to make it one key for all the features. Pandora, Netflix, Slacker, and SEI all had separate screens and keys.

Pros:
Great Streaming & Picutre Quality
Cons:

Since the update you can browse netflix and hulu plus, instead of just the queue. The setup is a breeze on this player. The iPod / iPhone app is a perfect compliment to this player because it allows you type your search query using the iPod or iPhone instead of the clunky number/letter input using the remote. It's a great player for the price, and not having the wifi built in is a plus! Many of the other players while being cheaper do not have wifi bulit in and make you purchase a wifi dongle. No one should hesitate buying this player.

Pros:
Blu-Rays load quickly
Cons:
Clunky menu's that move slowly and are not user friendly, lagy operation, streaming function is lacking to say the least
I bought this for it's general all around feature set. After using it for a week I returned it due to a number of problems. I will say that it does load and play Blu-Rays fine but the fun ends there. The menu, which sony seems to like to throw into all of their products is horrible! It is a cluttered up mess and is not at all user friendly. Yeah it's neat looking but who cares, I want to be able to move from function to function quickly and easily.
The streaming function is horrible to use. The user interfaces for the streaming apps(Netflix, Hulu plus, Pandora, Etc) are a nightmare, the icons are tiny even on a 65" screen and navigating is as slow and clunky as every other navigation function on the machine. When it comes to streaming the headaches continue: My internet connection runs a consistent 20 megs, I have never had a problem streaming Netflix or anything else over my xbox, I now I have the Roku and everything streams perfectly on it as well, that wasn't the case on the Sony. I would push play and it would show that I had a connection around 19-20 megs and then that would tic it's way down to around 1 meg and start to buffer. It was nearly impossible to stream anything on this thing.
I now have an LG 3d Blu-Ray player for disc play and a Roku 2 for streaming... I advise everyone else to do the same.

Pros:
Clarity, Wi-Fi, Easy to use, Mobile app
Cons:
Digging through to set up the Wi-Fi connection
The initial setup of my S580 was easy and quick. The only "difficulty" I had was navigating around to find the setup for the Wi-Fi connection. Granted I could have used the manual, but it made it fun to figure out the different menus. Once I got to the right menu, it was as simple as entering in the WPA and waiting for it to connect.
Without knowing I had to register a few things, I attempted to play around on YouTube and Pandora. I was unable to do so, but one of the papers that came with the product made it clear that I had to "Activate the Enhanced Features." Again, it was as simple as entering in the necessary information and waiting for everything to connect. After that, it's smooth sailing.
I've seen the reviews reporting that it's rather noisy on start-up or that the fan is noisy. On start-up, it's no different that the noises my laptop makes. It's just the motors resetting from the least use - nothing to worry about. As for the fans, I hear nothing. Granted I received my player today, via UPS, but I have no negative comments on the performance as of this moment. Sony has always impressed me and I have no doubt that they will continue to do so. Patience and understanding is all you need to appreciate new technologies.
Kudos, Sony. Kudos!

Pros:
Junk
Cons:
not Inexpensive
I have the 570 but is not here to review so ….A real peace of junk, lasted only 11 months, now it has a “ticking” sound, like the disk is hitting something inside. They want me take a “refurbished” unit. If I had wanted a used player I would have bought a used player, this player has only been used 10 or 12 times as we have very few Blu-Ray Disks. I have a Sony DVD changer that is used daily and has worked flawlessly for 5 years, looks like Sony quality has gone down the crapper.
This is my last Sony product ever.

This player is smaller in size than I expected. But again, Dynamite comes in small packages. This baby feeds my KDL60nx720 television, and the picture is beyond words. 3D content is even better! It streams wirelessly off my router, and is amazingly quick and full of awesome apps. Perfect as usual, from Sony.
