Pros:
small, light, great sensors for excellent videos
Cons:
no stills in 3-d
I'm looking at this and the JVC 3-D model. The JVC has 3-D stills, slow motion and time-lapse modes. It's biggest 2 drawbacks are it's length and no real 5.1 dolby surround sound. It seemed liked both makers left out some features that we all want. I will say that I own a sony camcorder with these newer sensors and they are fantastic, especially in low light. I'd love to be able to compare the sony picture output with the JVC and see which one really is the better camera. There is not much difference in price and some of the features, or lack of can be a deal breaker. But for me the image that I'll see in 3-D or 2-D on my 65" Sony or 55" Samsung 3-d will make or break which
one I buy.

Pros:
Simply th emost fun I had today
Cons:
Editing...
So glad it is finally here after ship dates kept getting pushed, but hey with all the trouble Japan has had lately I can be a little forgiving. It arrived and I bounced off the wall as I opened it. Yes the steroescopic display really works and as we shot the kids doing their best 3D effects and watching their home movies in 3D we realized it is not a gimmick, it is incredible. The only down side, is I bought it specifically to edit and compile some 3D clips to share with others, and as of today, there is still no way I have found to do that. You can watch the clips on th Camcorder, or on a 3D TV etc, but when you import theclips into editing software it always pulls a flat 2D version regardless of what software I used, even Sony's "Vegas" So I a dissapointed, and confident there is a fix coming. Still the neatest Camcorder available, what are you waiting for?
Would give 5 stars and feel great about it, except I haven't been able to edit the footge yet.

Sony 3D shortcomings.
No tele macro in 3D mode.
No IR mode.
No webcam function.
No time-lapse function.
No GPS.
No underwater case.
No filter mount so no filters available (underwater color correction, polarizer)
It only has 60Gb usable, not 64Gb.
Cannot take photo if camera is in 3d mode. You have to manually put camera in 2d mode, take photo, then hope you remember to put it back in 3D mode before you shoot more video. Are you kidding me?
No wifi data transfer.
USB data transfers too slow. No where near maxing out USB 2.0 bandwidth.
Copying from ram should be waaay fast. Firmware issue?
If you have to copy off the videos before using the camera you better be prepared to WAIT! I normally can copy 100Gb onto my laptop from my external usb drive in about 15 minutes so i figured copying from the ram in the camera would be faster. NOT! It's been 4 hours and I'm maybe half way done. Now i know why the camera warns you to connect AC power when connecting via USB to the computer - they don't make a battery big enough to last as long as the transfer process takes. When copying from the USB hard drive the drive light is solid green. When copying from the camera it blinks for half a millisecond about every second or so. Thanks Sony for wasting half a day of my vacation. This camera is going back. If you don't honor the return I will decline the charge with the credit card people.
My recommendation is to wait for the next generation units to see if they get it right then, unless you like pain and frustration.

I faced Problem there is no software provided by sony to Burn 3D Recoded Movie to Blue Ray Disc when you burn Blue ray it convert 3D to 2D. If your Cam HDD full you need to gain copy and delete recoded movie into Hard drive to Cam HDD. This is not good wastage of Time.

Pros:
lens and graphics superb
Cons:
can't see the lcd screen outdoors
My first day with the TD10. The functions and imaging seem to live up to expectations however I really wonder if anyone from Sony goes outside and uses this product. One can't see anything on the lcd screen let alone choose a menu item. Heck, I couldn't see the REC/STDBY. If I wanted to check settings I had to go inside to a room with no sunlight!
If you want to take any outdoor images this is not a camera for you. I've had it about 18 hours and the 3D is a out. Can't figure out if I have to reset the whole camera.
Darn.
The camera needs a viewfinder like the HDRCX700V as well as the lcd screen.

Pros:
Amazing
Cons:
Ahead of its time
I purchased this video camera two months ago and I have just come back from China and Hong Kong with great footage. I also use it to film school sports, and the response from other parents is invariably one of amazement. I had to purchase Sony Vegas to edit my movies, and I wish Sony would supply this software with the camera (hint hint). I will soon buy a 3-D television to show my movies to family and friends. In the meantime, I will keep my invaluable 3-D memories on my hard drive. One day 3-D cameras will be cheaper and easier to operate. I decided not to wait, because some of the best parts of my life will have gone, and memories will have washed away like teardrops in the rain.

Pros:
Good 3d seperation
Cons:
no 24p in 3d, lack of manual controls in 3d
I don't know why people write review of a camera they don't have. It is quite amazing to see what your shooting in 3d on the screen. It shoots in 24p, but not in 3d, only 60i. Many manual controls ghost out in 3d mode, like manual white balance, shutter. About all you can control is exposure or focus, but there is basically only one control knob so you can only pick one, and manipulate one at a time, which is frustrating. The files are easily read in final cut pro through log and transfer(mac), but only in 2d. I'm sure there will be software solutions in the future to unwrap the 3d file. This camera is on the cutting edge, so it will take some time for things to shake out.

Pros:
Everything is just perfect, excellent philosophy of combining two full HD sensors. It gives unparalleled quality.
Cons:
Nothing as such. I hope some day it'll take 3D still images too.
Firstly, it is expected to give the greatest video quality possible now, it adds to the depth of 3D effect. Incorporates all the requiring ingredients.
Secondly, it offers sublime 5.1 audio recording which aids for evolving an exquisite 3D sound effect.
Lastly, operating the device is a cinch.
A QUINTESSENCE OF A CAMCODER.

Pros:
Reasonable priced 3D experience
Cons:
No support for Mac OSX
I am a amateur SCUBA photographer and wanted to do some underwater video as well so I was considering a video capable SLR. Regrettably this also meant a new UW case with a price in 4 fig. range. Then it hit me... I had a UW case for a Sony 8mm lying around and all new cameras do support LANC protocol. So I went on a search for a decent Sony Handycam. CX560 was a first option.
I've had no plans to go for a 3D camera as the technology is still in diapers but in the late summer this year I've invested in a new TV set which supports 3D and price overhead was not that great of a hurdle... Thanks to the staff at the local Sony store I could try to marry the case and the TD10 and two weeks later I was filming hammerhead sharks in the Red sea. Although it's quite big and hard to fit in a bag, let alone a pocket, TD10 is my constant companion and the movies are stunning. A letdown is a lack of Mac software so most of my footage is still unedited.

Pros:
True stereoscopic 3d in full HD
Cons:
None
I reviewed the td10 about a year ago.
I loved it then and still do. I see many reviews claiming that they can't edit and burn 3d video to bluray. This is totally untrue. Sony Vegas pro11 & the less expensive consumer version offers full 3d editing functions. You can even adjust both h and v convergence. You can burn a full hd bluray from the editing time line. You can also export as anaglphic 3d, side x side, and over / under to bd or DVD. The latter formats are ideal for projects intended for broadcast. The only limitation ( unless you purchase some very pricey add'l software) is not being able to do 3d menus on bd. I don't find this to be a problem. If you are producing a professional project, you. Burn your 3d bluray and send it off to a mastering house to make a master. If your a 3d home movie enthusiast you can burn 3d blurays w/o menus That will play on all 3d bd players. If you export in s x s, o / u, or Anaglyph, then you burn bd or DVD with menus with any burning program. I use Sony Vegas pro 11 and have achieved great results.
I would compare the 3d quality on bd from Vegas with any studio release. If your serious about shooting 3d and don't want to spend 20k$, the td10 is a great place to start. Just have the right software and a pc with 12 to 24 g of ram and an i series chip. I use a Dell studio series with quad i7 chip and 24 gb of ram and find editing & exporting 3d video to be no more effort than flat HD.

Pros:
good 3d, very good 2d
Cons:
Forget about sharing your video clips, no 3d playback support for PS3 (or any other platform), basic functions missing
I bought this vidcam when it came out. Generally, I am a fan of Sony's products. Until now (almost a year) there is no support for 3d playback for PS3. Sony promotes 3D and call itself a leader but even its own systems can't support each other: if you want to play 3d clip you took on the TD10 on a PS3 - forget about it. sharing clips with someone who doesn't have the vidcam - forget about it.
The only way to share clips of your kids with your parents is buying them the expensive TD10 and an external harddrive. BIG BIG disappointment!
Sony - isn't it about time to have your PS3 support your own vidcam 3D format?

Pros:
Easy to use, easy to set up, easy to edit
Cons:
Can't take 3D photos
Took my first 3D video at a family christening Sunday. Came home and uploaded video to Cyberlink Softwear on my computer. Was able to edit and burn copies to standard DVD's in 2D, 3D anaglyph and 3D side by side for play back on my Sony 3D TV. Having problem with my BluRay that it only burns one type Blu Ray, cant wait to see the BluRay quality since the standard DVD in itself was very good, to say the least. I have Sony Vegas 11 softwear as well as Cyberlink Power Director 10, Cyberlink for me IS THE BEST. All my videoclips opened in Cyberlink in 3D, you can even make your own 3D titles and adjust the depth of the wording as you wish. Burn to standard DVD, AVCHD or BluRay in 2D, 3D anagyph, 3D side/side or 3D over/under. Don't let anyone tell you you can't edit and burn to DVD in 3D from the SonyTD-10.

Pros:
Better Design, Battery on the outside, 10x Zoom
Cons:
No 3-D stills, No Anaglyph 3-D or L-R seperate video files.
Having a firmware or even just a software program that can extract and create all the different formats of 3-D video would be a MAJOR selling point for all of the consumers that will want to share their footage in 3-D both on DVD and on-line on youtube.
Anaglyph, side by side, fielded, and separate RIGHT and LEFT videos could be rendered out from the original footage. 3-D stills in the same 3-D formats could also be rendered out from the same footage.
Settings like intensity, balance for (red/blue) and convergence are important if your creating this program.
Please google :after effects 3d glasses, to see the basic settings that are extremely important for rendering out 3-D video.
If you agree please support me on this.
Also keep the batteries outside the cameras and the full sized hot or cold shoe on top. A focus ring and mic input are also a must!!

I bought one of these, trusting that Sony would develop software/plugins to enable a person to edit the video. I'm have a Mac, and have had nothing but wasted time trying to edit the video from this camera. I have Windows on my mac and it still doesn't work well.
Response from Sony Style
By Reena, Sony Blog, 28-Jun-2011
Hi Tony, sorry to hear you're having difficulty editing your videos. Do you have the correct software downloaded? You said you had Windows on your Mac. You might want to look here for software updates: http://bit.ly/mk8zLM.
There is also some additional info on AVCHD vs. MP4 files. If you're on a Mac, you might want to convert them to MP4 to upload and edit. Here's that info: http://bit.ly/lM334j
Hope this helps. Thanks for commenting.

Pros:
Great 3D effect
Cons:
Play Memories Home software not user friendly
I bought this camera in Dec 2011. Camera's performance is superb. However, with the supplied PMB we could burn 3D video in blue ray disc and able to watch in 3D player. However, we could not watch in 3D display laptop. Then I downloaded Play Memories Home from Sony. This software allows user to watch 3D movie in laptop. However, the play back function in this software is good enough to stop, pause, FF, etc, in 3D mode watch. Sony should look into this.
Overall, I greatly satisfied with this Sony 3D Video camera.

Cons:
No Manual White Balance (only available on HXR-NX3D1U coming later this year)
Pre-ordered online and received it on May 5, 2011, well before it was available in the stores. Immediately started shooting people on the street, at home, buildings, trees, anything with volume... and I can't put the camcorder down ! It is just so much fun. The glass-free 3D LCD screen gives you instant feedback and makes stereoscopic and frame composition a snap ! No more bulky 3D rigs for me. No more complex inter-axial and convergence calculation: you see your 3D space in real time and simply move the camcorder to get the shot you want. It fits perfectly on a Steadicam Merlin to get gorgeous dynamic moving shots...in 3D. Each lens captures a 1920x1080 HD image for each eye: can't get any sharper than that. I have been waiting over 20 years for a simpler way to shoot 3D; being this small and that good - this truly is a miracle ! AVID Media Composer is ready for 3D editing, but is still developing a patch for MVC (3D) files. Sony is soon releasing Vegas Pro 10d which is said to have all the required features to edit 3D footage and burning them onto 3D Blu-ray discs. Can't wait.

Pros:
3D
Cons:
Nothing of importance
WWhat can I say? 3D is finally here! Reading some of the comments below, I am completely shocked. No Mac support? Lack of manual controls in 3D? Are you people joking? I can understand nitpicking like this if there were 40 models to choose from that shoot in 3D, but right now there are only 3 consumer models and having considered the options of a detachable lens or really long camera, I chose the TD10 for its compact & sturdy design. My camera finally arrived on the 30th of May and I am absolutely stunned by it. Yes I know I will have to move over from Premiere to Vegas 10 if I want to start editing today, but how important is that? How many people edit or even bother viewing their videos immediately after shooting them? And, shouldn't Mac users be on FCP forums asking for them to support this new format? I hate to sound condescending, but you either understand the importance of 3D as the next evolution in content acquisition and display or you don't. 3D is no more a gimmick than was sound or color and this camera finally allows you to start saving those precious memories with an additional dimension of detail that was simply not possible with other admittedly more compact HD camcorders (like my HF100). Keep waiting for perfection or start shooting in 3D today. While thinking about it, watch Louis CK's "…Everything's amazing right now and no one is happy…" rant on Conan O'Brien (find it on YouTube).

Pros:
High quality, look and feel
Cons:
NO ABILITY TO EDIT
I was very excited to have this unit. It looks great, feels very good in your hands. However, due to the fact that I am only able to watch video taken from this camera, from this camera it is difficult to see value. I thought I would be able to take the video from this unit and burn it to either blueray or dvd. Not the case. You can ONLY plug this into your tv and watch that way, at least if you want to watch it in 3D. Sure, you can take the output file and play it back in 2D, but if I wanted to do that I would have saved a thousand dollars and bought a 2d player. SO FAR, this is the only unit on market that does this.
Data is saved in MVC format (bit-map and depth-map) to save memory space, just like 3D blu-ray, and output pixels in frame-packing format of the HDMI 1.4a, again, not directly editable by any editor. They are not planning to output compressed streams out of that in 3D at all, just in 2D, where they'll output AVCHD like in other 2D camcorders.
WHY SONY ? WHY ?
