I bought this CD Player in Amazon and did not see anywhere that outside speakers were needed, maybe I should have known but normally when you buy an equipment that requires another component to work, it is listed as (not included). Unfortunately the outside box was quite damaged and I threw it away so I cannot return this thing back to Amazon. I have no space in my small apartment for additional speakers or amplifiers.

Pros:
Works great, looks great, it's just really great
Cons:
It's a lot longer than the stereo reciever
I bought this CD a few month ago to replace an old Sony 5-disc CD player I found and had been using. It was very affordable for the quality that it has and it does everything that I needed.

Pros:
Plays from USB. Quite a few CD-players are capable of doing that, and none other is available on Canadian market.
Cons:
No UTF in MP3 tags support. It's hard to believe that Japanese company release a product to market with no UTF support.
Missing features:
No UTF in MP3 tags support. It's hard to believe that Japanese company release a product to market with no UTF support. I'm wondering whether it displays French characters with diacritics?..
No CD-text support. Would be nice to have...
No headphones output. Not a deal breaker, but it's handy to plug-in headphone directly to the CD unit, rather to amp, for better quality.
No coaxial digital output. Not a big deal, but in mine amp Optical connector is in use by TV output signal. For somebody it may be useful to have a coax output.
Defects, faults
MP3 playing stops. I experience here the same, as someone else mentioned already somewhere on Internet: playback stops unpredictably. It may stop on the same song one day, but may play it flawlessly on another. You have to press "Rewind" and start again for playback to continue. Very annoying
USB cold start is slow (30 sec). I have just ~200 MP3 files on my flash drive, and it still indexes it slowly. I suppose there's just 30sec timeout set by default, before MP3 playback can start. Why?..
CD start (after spin-up and before music starts playing) is slow (~4 sec). On another CD players playback begins immediately after spin-up.
Annoyances
Blinking when going to standby is annoying/useless.
After switching from "Shuffle" to "Continue: playback, MP3 playing begins from the first MP3 filw written, and not from the album which was played.
CD to MP3 export feature is useless at 128Kb/s rate.
Stop does not stop, but rather pauses playing. This is OK for MP3, but I would expect CD disc to stop spinning after pressing Stop.
Unit can only turn on via Power button:
- Can't turn unit on by pressing Play button
- Can't turn unit on by pressing direct disc button
Forward/rewind buttons on main unit are small.
Direct disc selection buttons are too close to open tray. It's minor thing, but shows that Sony engineers did not test the overall usability thoroughly.
Repeat (No/1/All) should share the same button on remote.
CD<->USB switching should share the same button on remote.
