Very good Sony Skype Camera

Pros: Very good video and audio quality

Cons: A little too expensive

This camera works very well with the Sony Skype app. I am very happy with the video and sound quality particularly since this camera has to cover about 14 feet between my TV and the seating area ( unlike the regular PC webcam set-up where you sit inches away from the webcam). I tried to to use a few of the less expensive compatible webcams and while they worked-- they seemed to struggle to keep focus over the distance in my room. I think the higher quality but more expensive components like the Carl Zeiss lense and built in CMOS Sensor may be the reason for the superior performance of the CMUBR100 over the other Sony Skype compatible webcams that I tried.

Plugged web cam into the USB slot of a Sony S790 BluRay player. The player uses WiFi to connect to the internet through a DSL modem. Updated player system software using an iPhone 4 as a wireless WiFi remote, Strongly recommend an iPhone as a remote to get the querty keyboard and cursor. The S790 is connected through an old Sony STR 995 AV receiver to a 2005 JVC DLP TV. Selected Skype, entered ID and Password, chose a Contact, and connected on first try. Picture and sound were great on the JVC and a MacPro laptop on the other end of the connection.

Bad picture quality on other end

Pros: Good sound

Cons: Bad picture quality on other end

Picture quality is too bad on the other end. Looks like it sending a very low quality video over Skype, even if we see good quality video in our TV.
