Got this TV New Years day. So far its great but huge minus it that Sony does not support live streaming of NHL hockey if I new this when I bought this TV I would have never bought it. For a smart TV its NOT very smart. 2 thumb down for Sony

best TV. for the money.the menu takes some getting use to.i watch over the air antenna TV. and i live in a rural location where i get
TV stations form all 4 directions thus having to use a rotor Sony,s setup makes this very simple the feature add digital channels you to turn your antenna and add channels without deleting the others. Most other TV,s either don,t have this feature thus making this very hard to do and on some brands imposable.

I've had my tv for about.... 1.5 weeks now. Worked great at the beginning (all 10 days). Now, my screen just keeps rebooting. I can't even reset my tv. All I have hooked up is my Sony PS3. My friends are coming over tomorrow to check out my new awesome tv. I'll be sure to let them know how great it is....

Pros:

Bought the tv before Christmas 2011 (as a surprise for the fam), love the clarity of picture. Ease of use is awesome, it synched easy with the rest of my Sony systems.
Love the overall performance except the sound, you have to put the volume control almost to the highest setting to hear it good. I guess its part of marketing to add on the sound bar. I love my Sony products, happy with it so far. Hope it last for years like most of my Sony purchases.

HDMI connection renders awesome quality & sound, provided correct AV settings are tweaked. Smart, low impact appearance & light weight. Found TV reboots related to sensitive HDMI cable connection, yet some unexplained reboots still occur. Feature-rich options are a plus, but not always User-friendly when Navigating. Different routes may be annoyingly required to initiate basic tasks. The onscreen Manual is great, while color adjustments seem limited. Sound quality is good when Volume set to greater than half its capability. Best viewing is directly in front, while gradual degradation in quality appears 20 degrees or more from ideal front view. EX: Side viewing displays Black colors as green, with a hint of an opaque softness. Simply put, colors may be distorted and sharpness is reduced. For this, buy a Full Motion mount to reposition your angle of view & problem solved. This tv is not worth giving up on, despite weaknesses. There is a Component Jack add-on, which can be used for Wii Games. Ours presented hideous colors as the Blue in RGB, was not working AT ALL. A replacement is on order. Not a common problem, but do hook up a device via component cables and check yours out. Finger prints and smudge removal is a lot harder task than necessary. We found a YELLOW microfiber towel that works great with water ONLY. Other microfiber towels were horrendous even with mild soap. What a simple task gone wild! Still, this is a great tv! With a host of connections for HD camcorders & digital SLR's, photo & HD video quality is superb! This tv immediately recognizes any device connected, displaying photos via full screen slideshow or manual control. Camera HD video IS NOT always affected by viewing angles outside the ideal front seat view mentioned earlier. Camera HD video & sound are AWESOME! 3D viewing looks good, as setup is supposed to be easy via a 3D button. Operative word is "supposed". Double-check settings to ensure best settings and size of video. For the ultimate experience, DO invest in a quality Home Theater System, and not a Soundbar. Sync capability with other Sony products is flawless, but serves to multiply your options and confusion navigating. Admittedly, the challenge with all the Options, adds to the experience and insight that this tv is about as AWESOME as they come! Yet, one should expect Sony standards at this level to have resolved many issues faced.

Remote doesn't offer a QWERTY keyboard which makes the internet content painful to use
One of the reasons that I purchased this TV was for the internet functionality. The internet features are *very* frustrating to use because the remote control does not have a keyboard. In order to type a song into Pandora or an internet browser address you have to use the 1,2,3 keypad where 1=a,b,c etc. Unbelievably frustrating and time consuming. I called Sony to see if I could buy a different remote. I was told that they do not have a remote that works with this TV with a keyboard. I talked to technical support to see if a universal remote would work. They told me that a universal remote would not work. I am returning this TV. I am stunned that Sony would build features and not offer a way to use them easily. I will seriously look at the Samsung TV as the remote has a QWERTY keyboard. The Sony customer service and technical support teams were not very helpful and not even marginally courteous. I was very disappointed with my Sony experience. I really expected better.

The HX820 is a GREAT TV. It is the sexiest TV I've ever seen. The design is excellent. The internet features are better than just about any other TV on the market. The energy use is minimal for how large of a screen this is. My old 32" Sony used as much energy as this 55". The picture quality is great, not the absolute best picture quality in the TV world, but it's better than anything near this price point. Like many people interested in this TV, I was interested in the NX720 and HX929. I'm glad I got this TV over the alternatives because it has better performance than the NX720 and is sexier than the HX929 due to the HX820's super thin profile. Plus, it was less expensive than the XBR by a good chunk of change. The 3D is decent, and is one of the main reasons why I initially considered this TV. The amount of 3D content currently available is a definite downer. Luckily more and more content is coming to the marketplace, so it's a good future proof TV. Overall, I would say buy this TV if you want a well designed TV with great picture, 3D capability, internet streaming, low energy use, and lots of other extra cool features.

Pros:
Corning's Gorilla Glass makes this unit exceptional in design.
Cons:
The remote is a bit fun and dated at the same time.
This is by far the best television I have ever owned and it lot's of fun to watch and play with as it has many streaming apps and internet features. The picture is perfect straight out-of-the-box! I have done no picture adjusments. The sound for such a thin TV is also superb as it is supplied with three 10w speakers. This TV has dynamic edge lighting so the contrast is perfect and the unit is solidly built with all glass front and metal-casing back. I have it wall mounted but comes with a beautiful black-brushed metal stand. The tuner is fast, the graphics and user-interface are slick. I wish it had a better remote but it is solidly and uniquely designed just the same. Overall, this is a stunning TV that I am proud to own and brag about! Bravo for this Bravia!

The con is Sony is allways costly, but the other side of that is they are almost allways worth more.
this is a beautiful tv we waited to buy and are in love with this one, on or off this is one pretty set, it could use a full internet browser but that is all it lacks

Had a problem with my old sony tv, I called sony repair...sony find ot there is no authorized repair center in my state...sony replaced my old tv with new KDL-55HX820 for FREE...
Main part sony delivered NEW one at my home and take old one back for FREE too.

Died after 2 Months
I have had this TV for 2 months and the motherboard died and it turns off every few minutes. 6 days before Chirstmas and no help in sight. Fiends and Family will be here to see the new TV and we have nothing. Sony is completely unwilling to make this right. I have owned Sony products since the original walkman and I ignored people who said the quality had dropped significantly. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. AVOID!!!!
