Pros:
Excellent clarity, price, features, battery life, memory capacity
Cons:
slickness makes it vulnerable to sliding off table
I love this recorder! For $50, you cannot find a better value! The clarity is amazing for the price! It has several "scene" settings like meeting, lecture, interview, etc., which adjusts the specs to the best settings for that situation. It has a microSD card which allows for hundreds of hours of recording, even at the finest settings. I love that you can change the display (even during recording) to show the current time of recording length or to the time remaining in memory so you are prepared for how much room you have left to record, although I have never been close. I have used this recorder in small conference room settings and in large courtroom settings, and the clarity of the recording is incredible. In fact, when listening to a recording from a large courtroom, I can often hear better from the recording than I did live, and that is using its own internal mic!
I have heard mention of interference from other electronics or cell phones, but I have NEVER had an issue with this recorder, and I place it right next to my computer!
The only con I see is that the recorder is light and small and a bit slick, so I added two adhesive non-skid tabs to the bottom so that if someone were to bump it, it wouldn't go crashing to the floor. BEST MONEY I HAVE SPENT!

Pros:
Great price; easy to use; sounds great
Cons:
no cons
I ordered this digital voice recorder a couple of months ago, and I couldn't be any happier. It's easy to use, and the playback sounds great. I also love that I can upload my recordings to my computer. Once I upload them to my computer and play them back, they sound even better. I would recommend this product to everyone.

Pros:
Compact size, light weight, easy to use
Cons:
Manual is hard to read. Too much detail
Each recording becomes a file. I can download the files on my desktop and give each file a name, so it's easy to find later. Picks up even the soft voice well.

Pros:
Easy to use and to transfer files to the computer
Cons:
Ok quality, expected more
It is a good unit and works fine. Though comparing it to several test recording done with a smartphone (HTC One V in my case) side-by-side recording the same thing, there is barely any difference. In short, if you don't have a smartphone, get it. If you do, you may consider using your smartphone as the quality as at best slightly superior.

Pros:
Easy to use; good quality recording; easy to retrieve files
Cons:
Sound Organizer software can't be used without Admin privileges
We purchased several of these for use in classrooms to record student responses. The teachers found it easy to get started and make recordings. It was easy to retrieve the MP3 files off of the device when using it as an attached device (like a flash drive or camera). However, the Sound Organizer software can only be run by an Administrator or Power User; it cannot be run by ordinary users. This is totally unacceptable in our environment.

Pros:
Records well
Cons:
Does not work with Mac
I would have chosen something else if I had known that this recorder would not work with a Mac. The CD that came with it did not work. When I came to the website it said that the driver/program did not work for the Mac. False advertising considering it says that it does work. Not that Sony cares. It will just be the only product I purchase of this brand. I have been given Sony products and am ambivalent to them. They work….sometimes.

Pros:
Sounds excellent...
Cons:
None
I used to own a previous version of a Sony recorder ICD-BX800 it was lovely, but for that one I couldn't save my sound files on my computer, hence I bought this one, the upgrade was great, so far it has been a reliable product when it comes to recording lectures, interviews and my voice memos. The sound is really great (if used correctly). And this recorder is far more user friendly than the previous one I had :) I really recommend this product!

Pros:
Perfect for lectures
Cons:
haven't found any yet
I read another review on this page that said that this product doesn't work with a Mac. I bought it anyway from Mejier as I knew if it didn't work as advertised on the box, they would take it back. Good news, it works perfectly with a Mac. Not sure what the other person was doing (or not doing), but all I did was plug it in with the provided USB cord and it works. Can listen through iTunes or drag and drop mp3 onto desk top, it works perfect. I use it mainly in a lecture hall (100+ seats) but I put the recorder at the lecture podium. Has performed flawlessly. Very loud and crisp. While I have down loaded the recordings to my Mac (which improves the sound quality greatly by the way), I usually plug in head phones to the recorder when listening just because its more convenient. If your apprehensive, don't be. Go buy one.
