Pros:
Image quality, Manual focus assist, Tri-Nav, use of old lens
The NEX-7 is the best combination features, performance, and build quality that is perfect for my needs.
Some of my favorite features are:
Image quality, easy to use old lens with adapters, great manual focus assist mode, nice tilt screen, Viewfinder and live view quality, 24mp gives lots of room for cropping, HDR, fit in my hand, RAW, great control with Tri-Nav, 10 frames /sec in shutter mode, weight and size.
Shots are from a local zoo on the first day of use.
Very Very Pleased!!!!!

Pros:
Best In Class. Many great features & filters. OLED
Cons:
Running out of disk space because the pictures are too good to delete.
The Nex-7 is the last stop before a pro-sumer (professional consumer) level system. If you are already a pro looking for a smaller and extremely smart flexible in-hand system then this is your mark.
Worth every penny! Loads of fun.

Pros:
Sleek, fast in use, great IQ, tons of features, external controls
Cons:
No smart teleconverter, only one real pro quality lens, jpegs are smeared a little because of noise reduction
The real downer for me is the lack of a smart teleconverter like on the a77. With the za24 this would make the camera perfect imo. Should be an easy firmware fix

Pros:
Best "Control Functions" I have ever worked with!
Cons:
None found yet...
I have had this camera body on order with Sony for the past three months, and so pleased to receive it before Christmas... I own one of the original NEX-5's, and it has been around the World with me in the past year... A wonderful little camera, but left a lot to desire... The NEX-7 fills in all the blanks... I use two Carl Zeiss lenses with the LA-EA2 adapter, and they conbine perfectly in function and speed... The Best!

Pros:
Small, Lightweight, fast, and incredible control and images
Cons:
Make sure you adjust the viewfinder before putting on the Eye cup. Otherwise nothing
I just got my Nex-7 from my local store (National Camera). I pre ordered a long time ago and they finally gave me a call! I am in no rush and I think Sony made a tremedous effort to get some of these out before Christmas (I would have waited till March, but thanks for the early christmas gift sony :) I also have the Nex-5n and will say that once you hold a Nex-7 you will not look back... the EVF is amazing and the tri-nav makes all the difference. If you can wait and spring the cash for the nex-7....you wont regret it! I am now waiting for my 24 1.8 zeiss. Only thing i could wish for now is more weather proofing and a full fram sensor (wishful dreaming). This little camera will go with me more than My D7000.

Pros:
lightweight, sensor, updated controls
Cons:
lightweight, small form factor
I grew up in the film era with all metal Canons and lenses and a lot of controls on the outside of the cameras. I originally bought the NEX-5 when it frst came out and thought it was a great camera to get back into photography. I was dissapointed with the lack of controls outside of the menu system and the lack of a grip. When the NEX-7 came out it was an easy decision to upgrade. And it had an eye level viewer and a grip.
The only two problems I have with the Sony Alpha cameras is that the form factor is still too small and light. I have small adult hands (maybe Asians have smaller hands) and even I have problems holding the camera and I'm always accidently touching something, like the movie button, which has been disabled but still gives me an error message right in the middle of taking a shot. Memo to Sony: I KNOW THE MOVIE BUTTON HAS BEEN DISABLED. I'M NOT STUPID.
Secondly, I've realized that the weight of the camera/lens helps one hold the camera steady and compose the shot (IMHO), even with IS.
If I was a tourist or out all day shooting without taking the camera in and out of a bag, I'd definitely buy a half leather case to protect the camera and help with gripping it.
Unless Sony increases the size and weight, I doubt that the NEX series will ever become a professional, working camera. I guess that's why they have the Alpha series.
I gave a Yes recommendation, but with reservations.

Pros:
Superb build quality, Fast responsive controls, Highly Customizable, Electronic View Finder
Cons:
Soft JPEGS with "kit" lens. Auto ISO goes only to 1600, no way to save custom settings.
First, let it be known that if you are upgrading from a point and shoot this camera is not the one to do it with. It's not exactly a DSLR killer but a well seasoned photographer will be able to take advantage of it's fantastic sensor.
I took a chance first with the NEX-5N. Then my wife took it from me. What better replacement than the NEX-7, right? I believe strongly that mirrorless is the future of Photography and Sony has filled that niche. The EVF is excellent, stills image and video quality both superb, and the handling is remarkably good for such a small camera.
Image quality is difficult to fault. The 24MP sensor is capable of recording huge amounts of detail (just as long as your lens can deliver it), which is one of the "faults" of this camera. You need quality lenses in order to take advantage of the sensor. With adapters available you have an unlimited choice of lenses from the other makers.
Control dials and buttons are highly customizable which makes me wonder why the other makers never consider doing it this way. The nice little size actually fit my hand much better than the full size DSLRs.
The one drawback is the top two dial are indistinguishable so you may accidentally change the wrong settings. Also, there are no way to save customized settings so you have to think about your shots or use the iA mode more often.
The NEX-7 is an amazing piece of technology and I feel Sony has done right with the NEX series. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Pros:
Picture quality, weight
Cons:
Video button
Everything else is excellent except for the video button that keeps getting accidentally activated (without a possibility of disabling it). I have run down my battery and filled up my memory card because of it. Please SONY provide a firmware update to disable it.

Pros:
versatility, ease of use, user friendly gadgetry
Cons:
none that I have seen yet
Let me start by saying that I currently have teh Alpha900, the Alpha77, the NEX VG-20, and a few other Sony cameras and video cameras. I've been using Sony gear almost exclusively for the last decade. All those cameras get a lot of use, as did the Alpha55 before the A77.
With that as a prologue, I can easily state that the NEX 7 is my favorite among all the cameras I've ever used.
My evolution as a photographer was in the Aperture priority mode until the NEX 7 arrived. And suddenly, shooting in full manual mode is almost mandatory. The dials for shutter speed, aperture, and ISO are so available and responsive that one can't help but take full advantage of the feature.
The result of this combination of features is that there is much less need or use for editing in post. Images come out very clean, with so little noise even in high ISO shots.
I'm so eager to use this camera every day in every condition now. The only strange thing is that I have almost forgotten that I even own those other cameras.

Pros:
Size, build quality and feature set.
Cons:
Record button location.
Purchased for a trip to Central America, sold all my Nikon equipment to purchase new Sony lenses and accessories. No regrets at all! It is the perfect camera for traveling. Absolutely amazing picture quality especially paired with the Zeiss 24MM 1.8 lens. Light weight and great size for long and difficult hikes.

Pros:
well constructed, balanced and excellent results
Cons:
control functions very different and video button cannot be disabled
After waiting months for its shipment, this camera is exactly what I expected - "a big-time camera in a small package". The control dials take practice and I wish there were a software adjustment to turn off the video option because I sometimes inadvertantly press it.
Overall Excellent!

Pros:
Wonderful to use; Great images
Cons:
Crashed
I've been with NEX for two years and I really like it. I think Sony has developed something great. So I was very excited to upgrade to the NEX-7. I got it three weeks ago and have totally enjoyed it, both use and images- sometime I just like to pick it up!! But yesterday it presented me with "camera error". Sony's solution was to send it in for repair- ugh! They would only offer ground transportation, so a week each way and up to two weeks for the repair means no camera on my vacation in April. So in two years I've had two quality issues (the other is a poorly designed lens hood for the $1000 24MM Zeiss) and numerous customer service disappointments.... Well, stuff happens and maybe it's OK to be good enough. But I sometimes wish that Apple would make cameras!

Pros:
great build quality, beautiful design, excellent image quality, great value
Cons:
tri-navi designed for jpg shooters. No on/off toggle for peaking feature
I love this camera but....
I shoot raw so the tri-navi isn't much use to me. This has been noted often on this and other forums. I also shoot exclusively on Leica M prime optics with manual focus. The peaking feature is really good but it would be much better if I could toggle it on and off with the tri-navi controls. I'd like to see my images without the highlights before I hit the shutter.
I suspect this camera is being used by a lot of folks like me (raw files / legacy prime optics) so heads up sony engineers! Upgrade the software with us in mind!

Pros:
Takes excellent pictures and videos. No bulk.
Cons:
None I could think of.
No matter how fast I take shots, the pictures come out really great. The pictures are so clear that you would see the finer details of the subject.
I have been wanting to buy a DSLR for myself but I don't like the bulk and the weight of it. NEX-7 is small, light and so convenient to use.

Pros:
Innovative and clever design, nice build quality, beautiful images
Cons:
Some shortcomings with the firmware
I've been a photographer for more than a decade and I've been using Nikon SLRs and DSLRs. I've always loved this system.
However, I was looking for something smaller, but of high quality. Then, last year, the Sony NEX-7 was announced, along with the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 ZA. It was the perfect combination. The camera is very configurable, very well built, and its sensor does marvels. The lens is also a very nice piece of glass (I've been a fan of Zeiss glass for years).
My only complaints would be with limiting aspects of the firmware:
- No way to adjust auto-ISO. I'd love to be able to set a min and max shutter speed, and a min and max ISO value. My Nikon D90 was able to do it, and I do miss this feature.
- No way to adjust brightness and contrast in the (beautiful) EVF. No deal breaker, can be tweaked with JPG settings, but no real way to do it.
Other than that, it's a very nice camera. Sony had, in my opinion, the right idea by designing the NEX series in an all-new way, not compromising with a retro look like Fuji is doing right now. Ergonomics are superb, and so are results. The last little quirks could easily be fixed via firmware update. Please Sony, you're that close to make the perfect street-shooting camera.

Pros:
Excellent Service and updates on back-orders
Cons:
"none that I know of"
I received my NEX-7 camera a month after placing the order in late January 2012. The delay, due to flooding of the Sony factory in Thailand was certainly beyond anyone's control. What I really appreciated about the Sony Store service v. the Amazon service (I had two back-up orders to ensure ONE supplier would be able to provide the camera) was that Sony actually called their shipping department to give me status reports on my order. Amazon apparently was unable to do that which kept me in the blind (I placed my Amazon order August 29, 2011.) Sony contacted me first despite the 8/29/11 v. 1/19/12 -five month difference in order dates AND they shipped the camera three days before Amazon contacted me that the order was "soon" to be fulfilled.

Pros:
everything except autofocus
Cons:
autofocus
I have the kit lens, the 55-210, and the Zeiss 24/1.8. I also had a NEX5 (not the "N"). The NEX5 autofocus was awesome (thank goodness because of no EVF) and MUCH better than the AF on the 7. I am (please read this Sony) hoping for an awesome improvement in this with the firmware update. (please Sony? please, please?) I also am thankful they have the "enlarge for manual focus" option. I would be DEAD without this! Wish I still had my NEX5 in the mean time though.
That being said, maybe my camera is defective? (Sony?)
