Pros:
lasts me days and days
Cons:
heavy, changes the weight balance of the handycam when held
It is expensive, but it lasts me days. I purchased it to record me completing jobs I do for eventual use on a website. It lasts so long it is ridiculous. You will get over the price quickly. I also purchased the travel charger and it works well, no problems.

This battery NP-FV100 is exactly the same as the older version NP-FH100 in size, power, capacity according to the Sony's official spec. the only difference is the notch where it slides into the camcorder so the newer model camcorders won't work with the H batteries and forced to buy this same old V battery with different notch so it slides in to the newer camcorder models.
I'd just file off the notch on my old H battery.

Pros:
large capacity
Cons:
way too expensive
The new V battery may look like the old H battery.
One could force the old H battery into a new camcorder, with or without filing off the tab, and it will work for a while OK, e.g. for 5 minutes when the time comes to update the remaining battery state, then the message: "Cannot operate with this battery" will appear and the camcorder will be shut down. So the idea to use old H battery where newer V battery is needed will not work on newer camcorders..
This is BAD on Sony's part, not to see the wider picture, and force people to unplug their wallets, but this is part of the progress ?.

Pros:
Fantastic Long Life
Cons:
The price is way too high! Kinda big and bulky too.
There is really nothing bad to say about this battery. I've used it in the freezing cold winter weather and indoors too. It lasts a long time. My biggest complaint is the cost of the battery, absolutely ridiculous, but it does work well.
Given the length of time required to charge this, typically overnight, it would be nice to have two of them, but then you would also need a stand alone battery charger. I'm more disappointed that Sony forces you to buy a battery charger instead of including one with the camera or with this monster battery.

Pros:
Long Charge
Cons:
...searching...
I bought the battery because I do a lot of outdoor photography. I want something that I don't have to worry about, that I can charge in the morning and have it good for a day or more in a national park. The v100 is rated for eight hours for three times the cost of a v50 which is rated for two hours. It's better than lugging a couple of v50 batteries around and forgetting which is up. I would not consider modifying a battery or using anything which is electrical and defective. I was going to put "weight" down as a "con" but figured that is part of the energy which I bought. I've used Sony video cameras for 20 years and not had a battery problem.

Pros:
Long life, Small
Cons:
Long recharge rate.
Not too much to say about this one except that it is a great upgrade to any Sony camera. I bought it as a second battery and it does indeed last a long time. I rarely have to change the battery.
If I had to say something negative about it, it would be that it has a slow recharge rate, but I have not used other battery brands so I can't compare it.

Pros:
length of power
Cons:
a bit heavy
This battery is a must for those who need to keep filming without changing out batteries often. I wish sony would cut a bit of the weight though without sacrificing power.
